Re: Which game has the best music?
Nothing beats the magnificent contributions from Tower Of Power for the soundtrack of Budokai 2. I could listen their Jazz compositions for that game all day and it would never get old. I know it's ultimately three tracks, but man are they awesome.
If were strictly speak as far as whole soundtracks goes, I'd have to give that honour to Burst Limit, with Budokai 3 a close second. But I always feel funny listening to some of the old video game tracks knowing that Kenji Yamamoto turned out to be a major plagiarist.

I love Budokai 3, but I'd have to give the honor to both Xenoverse games. The soundfont is too good! It fits the atmosphere so well (not that the other games don't), and the overall composition of each track is done excellently.

Definitely the Budokai series, especially the first one.

Haven't we already gotten these in GT? Goku dies, the DBs go away, and the Namekian DBs most likely won't be used again because of the Evil Dragons.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

I love the music in Final Bout. It gives me a nostalgic feel every time I listen too it. Too bad most of that music is stolen from other sources

Namely the Butouden games (the real winner of "best DBZ game score"). I don't think there's very much in the Butouden game scores that Yamamoto swiped from elsewhere, so far as I'm aware of (all I can remember offhand really is a light Bond theme riff and a Pink Floyd bassline).Hellspawn28 wrote:I love the music in Final Bout. But yeah, the Final Bout soundtrack is essentially a "best of" of the Butouden series themes. Fantastic game music, easily wins over almost any other DBZ video game soundtrack (Budokai included).

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

I really love Burst Limit's OST, especially the Character select song.

I HAVE HIGH RESPECT FOR YOU BECAUSE OF THIS!!! ToP's songs in Z2 were a breath of fresh air and offered a new atmosphere for Dragon Ball entirely! All of the jazz from Z2 to Z3 and Burst Limit are amazing! I would love for Xenoverse 3 to have more jazz and funk in its soundtrack. It's slowly starting to come back (Conton City BGMs, Mr. Satan's time rift area, etc.) and it's really exciting!Lord Beerus wrote:Nothing beats the magnificent contributions from Tower Of Power for the soundtrack of Budokai 2. For me, I will have to say Z2 has the best soundtrack. obviously
Burst Limit's menu themes were all spectacular. This is one of my favorites too.simtek34 wrote:I really love Burst Limit's OST, especially the Character select song.
Dragon Ball /Z/GT/Super is a children's show and there's nothing wrong with that.
Re: Which game has the best music?
Legend deserves its recognition, too. It's often neglected in these discussions despite having an excellent soundtrack, I think. There's a few vocal tracks that could rival the insert songs from the series, as well.
