- Goku's reunion with his Grandpa
- Gohan losing his dinosaur friend
- The scene where Goku has just lost the 22nd Tenkaichi Tournament, but Kuririn is the first one there to congratulate his best friend after a hard fought battle. That whole scene, including the crowd raising Goku and Tenshinhan over their heads, is criminally underrated.

None of these made me cry, but I do get a bit misty eyed.

When I heard Romantic Ageru Yo playing at the end of the last episode of DB, when Yamcha died (sorry, the BGM just made me tear up), and when Goku leaves after fighting Majin Buu.

3 moments made legit cry:

Goku meeting his grandpa
Future Trunks SS transdormation in his TV special
DBGT ending
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

Super episode 67 contains the only moments in the franchise that have literally brought me to tears.

I have such mixed feelings on the arc and show as a whole, but god damn is that ending good.

I'm surprised only one person referenced the History of Trunks Movie. That film was sad. Future Gohan getting ganged up on by 17 & 18 and still putting up a decent fight was definitely memorable as a sad moment when he died.

Sure it's sad, but it didn't make me cry or even well up.

Nothing has really made cry in Dragon Ball, but Yamcha's death in the anime and DBGT's ending were both really. Oh, and after the battle with Vegeta when they were putting everyone's bodies in those cryogenic stasis pods.

What happened in those image was Roshi passing away upon realising that the new generation were very strong and could handle new threats, feeling that his work was done in looking over the new breed of fighters. This happened in the final chapter of Toyataro's Dragon Ball AF manga. It's actually incredibly poignant and moving.

I felt nothing when Future Gohan died. Am I a bad person?

No. That scene is total melodrama.

Some killer androids murdered your dear ol' mentor and there's nothing you can do about it?! Oh boo hoo... go cry me a river, Trunks.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

Pretty sure grief falls under the heading of drama.

And to a lesser degree GT's ending
I haven't really cried but this moment, Future Trunks crying in episode 52, the Gohan moment in episode 67 and strangely enough the moment where Future Trunks meets up with Future Bulma before her death (I have absolutely no idea, maybe it's the music and the fact that I know shit will go down soon?) makes me tear up a little.

Reminds me of the time where I read that someone didn't like that Future Trunks was getting angry or crying in the Future Trunks arc. He wasn't upset about the bullshit rage boosts, he was upset at the fact that Future Trunks was getting that angry at all. I mean his mom got killed and his world was destroyed but who cares? What a sensitive brat.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

It's completely reasonable for Trunks to be upset in the scene, and it's even quite well directed for what it is. I just don't find it very emotional for the viewer because it's so over-the-top. Rain, dark colors, sad music, etc. The emotions make sense, but the presentation is melodramatic.

I think it's hard for shows to genuinely make a death sad as well, in a way that will be felt by the viewers. The shock of loss requires attachment; we get intellectually that someone dying is sad, but it doesn't really communicate. It tends to be the more complex, down-to-Earth, less obviously tragic moments that hit harder, because they can be applied to real-world situations more easily than the death of a master in battle. There's a ton of fiction that's made me cry, but I can't off the top of my head think of one time the fact alone that a character was dying was the trigger.

I think another problem that adds to you feeling this way is time. We don't really see that much of Gohan and Future Trunks' relationships due to the time constraints of a special and due to that the impact is lessened.
