A ton of Cell's resurrected victims died again from drowning?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

A ton of Cell's resurrected victims died again from drowning?

Post by Angelus » Mon Jan 02, 2017 3:23 am

They did get resurrected on those islands that Semi-Perfect Cell blew up. There was no wish to restore the islands right?

And all those that were absorbed, when he was Imperfect, would have been resurrected naked right? There were entire towns/cities full of naked people after that wish?

Wow, that's... fucking horrifying. That has never crossed my mind before but... yikes. That is straight up fridge horror.

A city full of naked people? That sounds like Roshi's wet dream come true.

EDIT: Wait a minute... I always thought that when characters die and are brought back to life they are restored to the last form they were in before their death. So shouldn't they still be wearing their clothes if they get resurrected?

Well if those islands were close enough to other land it's possible they could have swam to shore.
Cool stuff that I upload here because Youtube will copyright claim it: https://vimeo.com/user60967147

Man, I do feel bad for the Dragon World's FCC sort-of company showing a town full of naked people. LOTS of censorship to do. Now I see Roshi and Oolong flying out to Ginger Town to get a good look at the show.

But there was only one island left. The last one, where 18 and 16 were hiding. Same one where Vegeta and Cell fought. All the other islands got blown up. Those islands were in the middle of the ocean

Which reminds me, was the wish made only to resurrect all those killed by Cell or did it include the ones killed by #19 and #20 as well?

Am I missing something because the wish explicitly said undo the whole damage of cell so that means the island must be recovered but the whole naked thing is possible

Was that the translation in the manga? Undo the whole damage (including lives then) of Cell?

In the DBZ Kai Japanese subs and dub, they were specific with reviving everyone that Cell killed. No mention of #20 and #19's damage and people killed as well

No. It was only to resurrect the ones killed by Cell. That means that everyone who was killed by the Androids never revived, incluiding the ones that were killed during Vegeta's battle with A18.

They only said to revive the ones that were killed by Cell. I have the manga and it was said that.

what about nappa when he blowed up the city because I'm pretty sure no one made a wish for that

Damn, a lot more people could have been brought back if the wish was "Resurrect everyone killed by Dr. Gero's creations, except the evil ones" or something like that. It could have brought back #20 and #19's victims. Although it would most certainly bring back those people that Dr. Gero killed back to the exact spot where they were before they died. Which means that if they were in a building prior to their death, and then Dr. Gero blew up that building, that led to their death.... those people would be resurrected at that same spot but the problem is, the building is now in rubble, so some of those people would be buried underneath the destroyed building.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

No. They were not revived, since they focused on Frieza later on.

Question: why did King Kai and Bubbles stay dead, then? They're fine reviving in the middle of Snake Way or in the void where King Kai's planet was, and as far as we know, neither has died before. They presumably would have been included in the wish, right?
Twilight: My library?! My library!! Do you have any idea how many books I had in there?!
Lord Tirek: How many, little princess?
Twilight: Over NINE THOUSAND!!!

I think it was stated that King Kai wanted to stay dead, thus he wasn't revived.

Goku states that North Kaiou declined to be revived so he could accompany Goku to Heaven, and since we've seen before that targets of wishes can refuse it (see Polunga with sending Goku to Earth), then he likely just accepted that Kaiou didn't want to.

There was no chance to. The moment the Dragon Balls came back up from when Kami was restored, they were gathered and used to revive all those killed by Freeza, and after that, over a year passed between the wish and when they could be used again, making it over the one-year time limit for reviving large groups of people.
