They seem to be pretty good translations of the japonese titles.
TBH, I kind of want them to mistranslate the episode titles because the short titles like "Gotenks is born!" and "The end, the beginning" just appeal to me way more than the long names. I really despise mistranslations in general but in this case I kind of want them.

SaiyamanMS wrote: Actually, 4Kids Entertainment actually did create some new scenes for the English dub of the fourth Pokémon film. (The animation for the fourth English opening theme of the Pokémon TV series was almost entirely animated specifically for 4Kids too.)

Not to say that it'd happen in this case unless HFIL freezes over, but it's not true that no dubbing company has ever had new scenes animated for the English release of an anime.

Anyway, I imagine flashbacks will either use Kai audio or be redubbed entirely, there's no reason they'd bring back old Z audio at this point.
Ah, interesting. Didn't know that. Haven't seen the series.
Theophrastus wrote: 4Kids also commissioned two new 13 episode seasons of Kinnikuman Nisei/Ultimate Muscle to fix the fact that the anime originally just kind of abruptly ended because it got cancelled. Something I'll always respect them for, even if most of their other dubbing practices were awful from a purist standpoint.
Oh, wow, that's an even bigger example. Really cool, actually. Still, both of those examples are from 4Kids. Funimation dubs the series instead of adapting it.

When i saw this thread and then saw the date of airing i was very happy. However being in the UK it seems i am going to have to wait a bit longer for the English dub to be broadcast somewhere here.
Not the right place maybe, but anyone know where i can keep up to date on where i will find that news. I have been literally waiting since i heard about Dragonball Super being launched for an English dub. I have not seen any episodes and not spoilered myself with the story. However i literally have to spam google to try and find any news i can and then new years day when browsing google (again) i found this forum! What a great bundle of information i got from this thread specifically so i thank everyone for posting, but i am wondering if anyone has any idea for the UK release.
The movies were actually released as "premieres" on Sky Movies (English cable) and that was huge, i had both collector edition dvds from Magna UK but it means i can continually watch them so i assume they had a good following and viewings. So i would hesitate a guess we will get it over here but what channel and when is anyone's guess :(

Anyone able to point me in a direction.

Hi, and welcome to Kanzenshuu!.

I'm afraid I have some bad news. All of the major UK Networks have turned Super down for being "too violent".
Toei Europe holds the UK rights, and they want it on a kids channel - the Networks are saying it isn't suitable for the programming they want: safe. Dull, boring and inoffensive.

The Funimation dub is airing in the US on Adult Swim on an 8pm Saturday evening slot.
Hopefully, Toei EU will eventually give up on the kids networks here, and try getting a similar slot on SyFy or even FOX.

Speaking of dubs, there is also the Bang Zoom one which we're hearing was produced for Asia, though now it could also be for Europe.
With this being said, we have no clue as to whether or not if Super does air here, which dub it would be - hopefully Funimation.
Then there's home video, a total mess really. We have no clue as to when any news will come for us long suffering UK fans.

The only place I can advise you visit for any news updates would be Toei Europe's official Site:

http://www.toei-animation.com/en#2

I hope we see you often in here!. Happy New Year.

What about SkyOne? It seems perfect, free on Virgin Media now too no need to get any Sky bundles. Movies recently premièred on Sky movies too. That or CITV would be another bet since they aren't afraid to air anime frequently.

I concur with Lee, Pandemona weclome to Kanzenshuu and glad you found it via Google! Because Google likes to prop up shitty sites unlike this.

Sky One would be perfect, and the fact Sky air the movies on Cinema (actually, they're airing the two back-to-back again Thursday morning from 6am on "Superheroes") it would be fitting for them to air it on one of their stations.

Sky One would make perfect sense actually. Sky Movies have actually repeated BoG and RF loads of times since their initial broadcast. The fact that they're now airing them on their "Superheroes" channel is also encouraging, as Sky One airs several Superhero shows such as Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, and DC Legends of Tomorrow. I'd be happy even if it got a late evening slot.

And then there's also the fact that kids watch The Simpson's on Sky One, so there'd be some hope of reaching a younger audience too. If Toei were willing to make the compromise of airing it on Adult Swim in the US then I don't think Sky One is completely out of the question for the UK.

How can someone say Super is too "violent"?
I swear the world is going downhill. Someday we will be all emotionless robots who don't swear nor get angry.

I would have doubted the possibility of Super airing on Sky One but now with it set to air on Toonami in the U.S (which I didn't expect) I do think there's a chance. If the movies continue to do well I don't see why Sky wouldn't want to bring in more Dragon Ball to keep that ball rolling.

I don't mind which dub airs either, I'll be importing the Funimation Blu-Rays anyway. I personally haven't recorded anything off the television in years but if the Bang Zoom dub airs I may go the extra mile to record it as doing so will mean preserving what is likely to be another interesting chapter in the history of Dragon Ball dubs.

Whoever said that likely has an extremely watered down understanding of what animated shows are or should be.
Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

It is ridiculous. Especially since France are airing it on a channel for kids ranging from 6-12 yo.
It remains to be seen if that will be edited though.

But the "too violent" label is sheer ignorance. We are going to become the only major European nation to not air it in any form, as Germany are about to announce their dub anytime now.

Toei Europe need to compromise here, just because it isn't on a kids network, doesn't mean you can't market it towards them.
As we've seen in the USA with the Bandai toyline, even though the show is on Adult Swim, and has a primetime slot.

I never thought of the fact that Sky One air all the DC stuff, too.
They also air reruns of Futurama still, and at one point in time, that was on Adult Swim.

It's so ridiculous that not even one tv network on the UK wants Super because it's "too violent".
With Super airing on France on a channel which target audience is kids between 6-12 years old, and in Portugal airing every weekend morning on a public access channel and will soon star airing on a channel that also targets kids between 6-12 years old.
But that's not just a problem in the UK, in Portugal there's an entity that is starting to want to censor a lot of cartoons, but thankfully a lot of networks are just ingoring them and paying the fines they get for not doing what they want.
I'm just a DB fan that's in the grey area that exists between an Hardcore Fanboy and a Casual :P

I never thought about the idea of Super airing on Sky One, but it actually sounds like a perfect place for a show like Super to air. But I have a feeling that Sky One may have part of the major networks to turn down Super initially.

I sincerely apologize for essentially asking Kanzenshuuers to play TV Guide for me, but I'm trying to set my DVR and AT&T U-Verse isn't helping clarify this for me, so I'm very confused. I'm seeing multiple time slots for both Super and The Final Chapters. Are there going to be back-to-back episodes? When exactly is everything airing?

Dragon Ball Super airs at 8:00 PM Saturday nights.
Then the same episode airs again at 11:30 PM,
With DBZ Kai (The Final Chapters) following at 12:00 AM.

No back-to-back Super, and only one new episode of each series each week (one episode of Super and one episode of Kai).

Thanks everyone for the great replies :) appreciate it very much.
So it looks like i need to wait a bit longer for DVDs and such or hope Sky One pull their fingers out. I mean reading on that TOEI Europe website they are hosting/attending many conventions this year;
The team of Toei Animation Europe is looking forward to meeting you again in the new year and discuss licensing and broadcasting opportunities! Let’s meet at the following 2017 fairs:

Spielwarenmesse Nuremberg, 1 - 6 Feb., 2017
Kidscreen Summit, Miami, 13-16 Feb., 2017
Bologna Children’s Book Fair, 3-6 Apr. 2017
MIPTV, Cannes, 3-6 Apr., 2017
Kazachok Licensing Forum, Paris, 19-20 Apr.
So hopefully Sky might get on it there or something i don't know (clutching at straws). At least hopefully Magna UK might release DVDs fast :D

Or i could move to the USA

I couldn't find this being discussed anywhere, so apologies if I should have created a seperate thread

I've been tweeting to FUNimation / Adult Swim for the last couple of days, and have yet to hear back.

Me being me, I'm wanting to watch Super dubbed on Sunday afternoon when it airs (for my timezone - in Australia), however I want to do so legally but I can't figure out where I'll be able to do so.

FUNimation NOW is USA and Canada only, and so I was wondering if someone might be able to confirm / deny, or point in a direction as to whether or not the dub will be available on Crunchyroll / AnimeLab / Daisuki, just like the sub will be?

Super and Boo Kai will be put on toonami.com after it airs, but it won't be free for a couple of weeks. Or wait for the DVD/Blu Ray. Or tweet Madman if they will release it.
