Re: Dodon Ray
Did it prove to be superior than Kamehameha though?
Dodon ray is pretty much a concentrated energy beam, piccolo created a far better version of it by SBC..
Kamehameha would make an opponent turn to dust, donon would Peirce them if you manage to hit it..

Re: Dodon Ray
Akira Toriyama just forgot about it, like he does for many things.

Re: Dodon Ray
Actually, that was the kikoho (the tri-beam). The dodon ray was never said to be superior to the kamehameha.Kishido wrote:Why no one like Goku tried to use it.
It is said to be superiour to Kamehameha after all

You are right my mistake. The comment was about Krillind amateur Kamehamehadragonball0900 wrote:Actually, that was the kikoho (the tri-beam). The dodon ray was never said to be superior to the kamehameha.Kishido wrote:Why no one like Goku tried to use it.

Re: Dodon Ray
I always thought that Freeza's death beam was a similar technique.
Cool stuff that I upload here because Youtube will copyright claim it: https://vimeo.com/user60967147
Re: Dodon Ray
Indeed, they're quite similar! The main difference, if it actually exists from my older observations, is that Dodonpa doesn't need to be charged. It fires instantaneously. I believe Freeza's beam, while superior, still required a brief charge time. With Freeza improving Kuririn's Kienzan with homing capabilities, I'd hate to see what he'd do around other unique techniques. Replacing a millisecond with instant would be a problem for everyone.Polyphase Avatron wrote:I always thought that Freeza's death beam was a similar technique.

Re: Dodon Ray
The real difference, given what's shown, is when it makes contact with its target. With the Dodonpa, it basically just exploded on contact, similar to how the Kamehameha will, while Freeza's technique pierces and penetrates through, being closer to the Makankosappo in that regard.Nejishiki wrote:Indeed, they're quite similar! Yes, there's a misconception that the Dodonpa is a piercing technique. It inflicted burns and explosive damage, making it quite different from Freeza's death beam.Darkprince410 wrote:The real difference, given what's shown, is when it makes contact with its target. The idea of the Dodonpa being superior to the Kamehameha is also a common misconception. That was never stated in the series, I think the combination of Krillin's amateur Kamehameha being inferior, as well as the Kikoho being inferior, led to some people mistakenly thinking this.
Re: Dodon Ray
I thought I wasn't remembering that quite right. Before you wrote it, I was already aware of Dodonpa being explosive thanks to Tao Pai Pai. But I didn't put two & two together on my own about piercing & explosives being separate properties for whatever reason.Darkprince410 wrote:The real difference, given what's shown, is when it makes contact with its target. Neither the Dodonpa nor Freeza and Cell's Death Beam are said or shown to require charging before firing it off, but it can be done to produce a stronger beam.
Also both of them can produce explosions when hitting the target, just see how Freeza killed Dende and earlier his brother Kargo (manga only). I have no doubt Tao Pai Pai's Dodonpa would have pierced Goku's heart, if it hadn't been for the Dragon Ball protecting him, but yeah it's true it has never shown the capability of piercing, so Darkprince is only halfwrong.
