It's a lot of fun listening to everyone talk and compare how they sounded back then. Interesting that Laura Bailey isn't Trunks anymore! New voice actress is pretty spot on though.
Bailey actually recorded for Kai, but due to a scheduling conflict, she couldn't be in Super.
Wait what?! So that was Bailey? Aw man...

In Kai, she'll be heard. In Super, no.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

Sorry I'm late to the party but why wasn't Kuu-Zen-Zetsu-Go the opening theme shown on Toonami?

That was a Japanese-only opening for a completely different version of Kai's Boo Arc. The international release has different openings and endings, as well as more episodes.

Bummer! :(

I really enjoyed that opening theme. Any chance it being on future DVD / Blu-ray video release in the future?

Only smidge of hope is if FUNi release it as an extra other than that very unlikely.

Fight it Out is the opening for the dub? Fuck. Yes.

Patrick Seitz, Franky in One Piece and Dio in JJBA, is a script writer for The Final Chapters
Image
We'll likely see Tatum as a writer but this is interesting because Seitz' ADR Script Writing is considered great

I like it more than Dragon Soul, yet far less than every other Dragon Ball opening.

That it is, it's a crime we haven't got a proper full version of it like we do for all the other openings. Isn't half the 2014 Kai OST also missing?

I had no idea there was 2 openings to this arc. I was expecting Ku-Zen-Zetsu-Go and then I hear this odd opening I've never seen or heard.

I'll give it some time to grow on me.

'Fight It Out' seems a little too on the nose/generic & like it's from some forgotten Rocky sequel, doesn't it?

Well, in all fairness, Dragon Ball does remind me of Rocky in a lot of ways.

Both Rocky and Goku...
-Are stupid but love-able.
-Have suffered extensive brain damage.
-Are geniuses at fighting...and nothing else.
-Had a kid who ended up being way, way smarter than them.
-Eventually went from rags to riches (if we're counting Super).
-Befriended former foes, in some cases even training with them.
-Faced an unbelievably arrogant foe (Freeza and Clubber Lang).
-Faced a foe obsessed with perfection (Cell and Ivan Drago).
-Aren't the best at blocking, and can take an ungodly huge amount of damage that would kill pretty much anyone else.

So, it works.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Alexis Tipton voices Erasa? Man, and here I figured Laura Bailey reprised the role! Man, she's a scarily accurate soundalike  . And here I thought Chuck Huber and Kent Williams were nigh-identical...
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Completely agree with this. It's uplifting, empowering, and gets you excited to watch the show. I think it suits the show better than the other song, which feels more like a generic anime theme. The same with the ending songs too, with Never Give up being better than its counterpart.

The similiarities are definitely there. I agree that Fight it out does sound similar to an 80s Rocky theme, and I'd call that a good thing as those are some of my favorite movies ever. :)

Finally got around to watching this episode myself... The wait was worth it, its every bit as natural and well acted as the Kai 1.0 dub. Kyle Herbert and Doc Morgan sounded incredible. Can't wait for next week.

So did they get rid of the green tint or are we just imagining it not being there ?
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
