A big part of why the Saiyan arc and Buu arc look so different in the anime is because of the switch in character designers, going from Minoru Maeda to Tadayoshi Yamamuro. Toriyama's evolving art style played a big part too, but the anime shouldn't be used to represent what his art looked like at a particular time. There are usually subtle differences between the two.

- I don't like the new logo. What's the problem of using a japanese word on the cover of a japanese product?!
- The back cover look cool, but if that means we don't get the rest of Toyotaro's cover art it's a no from me. Unless they put it inside.
- While this one is not Viz fault, I'm still disappointed they didn't bother to ask Toyotaro to draw one final chapter to wrap up his ROF version and include it here. One monthly size chapter was enough to do the job and with that the transition between arcs would be much better.

I was curious about Volume 2 sales, so I just made a quick research and looks like Volume 2 sold more than Volume 1.
The numbers are low, but since this is just a promotional manga it would be more fair comparing to other promotional mangas.
Skip arcs, rush stuff, and sometimes have the anime ahead won't do anything good for the sales.
Let's see if Volume 3 breaks the 100k barrier. FT Trunks and Black are the hype!

It could remain monthly, but it'd likely get a big boost if it got chapters published by Shounen Jump, like Boruto.

It's significantly higher than any other Dragon Ball manga release in the last decade or so. None of the other spin-offs or releases like the Full Color volumes even managed to break into the top 50 charts in the week of their release (when sales are typically highest), never mind appearing on the charts multiple times and selling over 150,000 copies like this volume of Super has.

Chapter 13 for me at least. It was bad enough that super saiyan came back, but to also bring ssg back?

It's a ''love it or hate it'' situation with these chapters.Others appreciate the changes these chapters made and others just despise them.I,personally, love these chapters and the manga in general.

How can you hate SSG coming back? That was great. It's super dumb they basically throw away a whole transformation. I want it to stick around. It's better than just throwing in the Kaio-Ken, and then being heavily inconsistent with it.

Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.
I loved chapter 13, I was glad that SSJG made a return and that Goku can access the form at will, I like Goku's base hair a lot.
One of the main reasons why I prefer the manga over the anime is because of this, and that Goku isnt overly childish in the manga unlike his anime counterpart dude was giggling and having a good laugh plus praising the guy that he knew made Future Trunks' life a living hell and killed Bulma.

I love ssg, I really do. But it should have been a one time only thing. He already absorbed ssg's power, it's ridiculous to have him be able to switch into it. Let's say he didn't absorb it in the manga continuity (which would be a huge change for a promotional manga to make), it takes away that it was a form that he needed others to create. Yeah, I guess it's cool that he finally made a godly form his own power but at the same time that's what the allure for Super Saiyan blue was imo. I don't think kaioken is that inconsistent. It makes sense that a god's technique would work with a god transformation. Even then, it doesn't even work most of the time.

Yeah SSG's relevance is one of the main reasons I enjoy the manga more.Kaio-Ken is extremely cool but it makes Goku extremely OP...with SSG being a stand alone transformation instead of it being absorbed into the base, the power scaling is much more logical ( though not perfect ) than in the anime

Actually, he didn't absorb SSG in the manga, it's important to keep our continuities straight when judging things like this. Although I agree that having it always be accessible by Goku takes away from the whole mystique of the legend.

On top of it being a lazy concept in general, but Kaio-ken has always been that way.

You make a pretty good point. In the manga it was never stated or shown that Goku absorbed SSG into his base..so in its continuity it makes sense that SSG is accessible.

I don't think it should have. Hell it should have been THE form to keep, and not Blue. It makes it an utter waste of time and form that shouldn't have been made, if they barely have any mileage out of it.
Beyond the logic of Kaio-Ken being poor from past history, the bigger problem is it's constantly going to make everyone have it in mind all the time. So now if Goku doesn't use it at certain points, we're all going to say he didn't go all out or he didn't use the Kaio-Ken so it isn't that serious yet...etc. Not to mention it just leads to a ton more confusion in the hierarchy.

You just spoke my mind. It's for reasons like this that I'm glad it got some more use in the manga version of the U6 tournament. Plus, I just like the way it looks more. For me, Red> Blue in this case.

My very next sentence is this:

Seriously man? I obviously acknowledge that that's a popular idea (although I'm still not 100% sure I agree with it) and explain why that wouldn't matter to me regardless.

If that was the case, then it wouldn't be as bad. But I feel like ssb makes it seem so unnecessary. Not necessarily because of power, but because of the other reasons I said before. I always interpreted as ssb being the form where Goku finally made that ssg power his own and ssg ruins that.
Why is the logic poor? It's explained in the show. Super saiyan just wasn't compatible with it. Even ssb is barely compatible. Although your other point is really good imo. They should've just never used it again after King Kai tells him not to.
