What kind of person is Goten growing up to be?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Toei seems to be mildly interested in doing something with the kid , but they can only go so far without Toriyama giving a role to him. Not that I trust toei that much, anyway.
So basically what he was like in GT.

Adult Goten is basically Yamcha.

It set up their power and with more arcs they could've developed Trunks to be more like his future self and Goten to be a mixture of maybe Goku and Gohan's characters.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Yeah,Toei has always been good making use of shafted characters. Most of Yamcha's best moments are fillers.
Willing to bet that in the manga, Goten and Trunks are going to do jackshit and just be spectators(or not there at all if spectators aren't allowed),but in the anime they'll probably have their own story.

I think Goten will be another Gohan really (except not as smart) Chi chi will raise him to her expectations and treat him like he can't do anything even though he has way more talent than Gohan.

I remember when Zamasu took Gokus body and killed Goku and then went after Goten and ChiChi. Chichi didn't even let Goten fight she just picked him up and ran when really it should be vice versa. I would of liked to see Ssj Goten fight Black for a little. Zamasu just took Gokus body i doubt he could use it all that good BUT i still think Goten would lose.

Don't ask me why because I wouldn't be able to explain it, but for some reason, ever since those theories that Black was actually future Goten started coming out, I've been salivating over the idea of Goten becoming a villain. Again, I can't explain why that premise holds so much appeal to me. But for whatever reason it just sounds amazing. Maybe just because his zealous, free-spirited personality works well with becoming a slightly-unhinged bloodthirsty animal, and seeing a good guy become a villain for the first time would be a very nice change of pace.
I also was hoping it to be the case. During Black arc one of my theories was that Goten was born in the future but he got kidnapped and brainwashed. That would have been good.

And thinking about it, the whole villain kidnaps and brainwashes thing could be still done. Much like Joker did to Robin in Batman (I remember seeing it as a kid was creepy as fuck)
Something like this could possibly work in Dragon Ball and they could revive the brainwashed back to his normal state once beaten
Although, what if Goten was sort of like Jason Todd? A hero gradually becoming an anti-hero/villain? Hear me out: after a lengthy amount of baddies have come to invade Earth, Goten eventually notices that his dad and brother are WAY too soft in defeating their enemies, Vegeta always screws up in the end somehow despite his , and Trunks takes things TOO lightly. This being the case, Goten decides to be more...effective in battle, undergoing his own methods of training, and eventually, everyone notices a change in Goten, that he seems to be becoming more and more...violent. This would later culminate in Goten going against his dad and brother's methods of showing mercy to their opponents, leaving them at odds with each other.

BTW, emperior....BIG props to you for making that comparison to Robin in the Batman Beyond movie! Specifically, Ever since Super began, And ESPECIALLY once the Zamasu arc hit its midpoint, Aside from Jason Todd, I've also started to liken Goten to DC Comics' Tim Drake. Specifically, the Tim Drake of The New Batman Adventures, and your idea of Goten being brainwashed to the point of nearly losing his TRUE identity is what I speculated Zamasu had done to Goten, in the event that Goten WAS Black. Like you said it could still be done.

Might as well, he's currently only slightly less one dimensional than Mister Standard McDefault.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

I actually think that could be a character arc one day. Since time isn't moving quickly in Super, they could run out of good ideas before Goten turns 12, and then Dragon Ball could become that. Hopefully not, though...

Also, evil Goten sounds intriguing. Another motive for that would be that he's kind of the "child left behind" of Dragon Ball, considering he's had far less to do than Gohan, Future Trunks, and even present Trunks, and he might turn against the people that ignore him. Since he's still stupidly overpowered, I'm sure any villain would love having him on board.

I think Goten being "ignored" is an idea adopted by the community. In-universe, I don't really see evidence for that notion (I don't consider Chi-Chi's antics as legitimate neglect) because he's actively involved in his home & social life. We know the endgame for his character arc so I'd like to see Goten distance himself from his father as he already did with his brother. I'm sure there's an interesting story behind "The Haircut" or perhaps they'll develop Goten's reaction to Trunks' "girlfriend" like Battle of Gods teased!

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

Black should have been Goten and partnered up with Future Zamasu. I think that'd have been better than 3 Zamasu's, but like someone said they can still make the character relevant at any time. I honestly think he's being shelved until Goku and Vegeta die off, if they go that far with it anyways. SSJ 2 would be their limit unless they pull a Future Trunks. You'd have to be really creative to give them a unique power up though I suppose, unless you know, give them SSJ Rage. Saiyan Hybrids have so much power but choose to waist it on being an earthling, Gohan never wanted to fight, and Goten only does it for fun. I'm hoping this Black arc woke Trunks up and he starts training seriously and Goten follows.

Goten, Trunks, Pan, and Oob would be a pretty cool team if you let Piccolo be their master or even Gohan. I'd like to see them go through Highschool honestly, and Bra too.

You know, I had a headcanon about the reason as to why Goten changes up his hairstyle into what would become his EoZ look, and personally, I PRAY that it becomes canon.

Shortly before he decides to change his hairstyle, Goten is already well into his phase of dating numerous girls, and one day, he and his most recent girlfriend at the time stop by his house, as Chi-Chi asks Goten to help her with the laundry real quick, and tells him he can't go out to "play" with his girlfriend until they finish.

With Goten being occupied, his girlfriend waits around the house for him. A few minutes later, cue GOKU coming into view, and Goten's girlfriend ends up MISTAKING GOKU FOR GOTEN. She starts flirting with him and even fondling him at one point, all the while thinking she's doing this to Goten. Goku tries to tell her that he's not Goten, but she doesn't let him get a word in edgewise.

Just when Goten and Chi-Chi finish and meet up with the two, the girl looks on in surprised confusion that there are two Gotens in the area, while Goten looks on in shock that his girlfriend was just hitting on his dad, with Chi-Chi being filled with fury that some "hussy" tried to make a move on her Goku. She chases her away, but not before the girl shouts that Goten and his family are weirdos, and that she and Goten "are SO over". Goten looks on in embarrassment, sadness, and anger at everything that transpired. About a day or two later, everyone notices that Goten DRASTICALLY changed his hairstyle, with people like Gohan and Trunks asking why he decided to suddenly do so now, leaving Goten to angrily exclaim that he does NOT wants to talk about it. Not NOW or EVER.

No offence guys but really? Teaming up with villains? A story about a haircut? A story about reacting to Trunks girlfriends?

Toriyama/Toei needs to develop and expand what makes him different and add traits and stories unique to him him. Take his stance on fighting and go from there. Unlike Gohan he does enjoy it, but he does it in a group interaction context, for fun or to help. So maybe have him discover/develop some new technique or transformation that literally is about enhancing team power. The franchise has very little of that because everyone is "me me me I'm training for myself to prop only my own power". A group buff/support technique would fit Goten's character. Or pull on his upbringing experience. Goku & Gohan didn't grow up with Saiyan best friend, it's a much more natural "state" for Goten. Use that, make him balance heavier between human and Saiyan side. Conflict of 2 heritages sure is the classic "teenager issues" tale, could be used in Dragon Ball context with human/saiyan hybrid.

There's hunderds of aspects that are already there to use and more unique that could be added to develop him an independent/unique character.
