Anyways, Android 17 is back because someone reminded Akira Toriyama that he was still alive. I just hope this is a great opportunity for him to have great dialogues with the rest of the cast, including a cool and on-screen moment with Marron. It is also an opportunity for Android 17 and Android 18 to have their names spoken out loud.

I find that question bizarre as well, because Super has already brought back nearly every other major character from the past already. Baba was one of the last ones and she just got a 2-parter.

Other than Launch and I dunno...maybe Grandpa Gohan (?) there really aren't any other characters beyond 17 to bring back now.

Reading now, I think I have expressed myself badly. I'm not complaining about the return of Android 17, he's cool and I was waiting for his return actually, as it might bring some cool stuff. Can't say the same for Future Trunks (but fortunately his reappearance brought some good things), Vegetto and mainly Freeza. Most of the characters that do deserve to return are dead, but not a problem, since Freeza returned.

I doubt that's the motive for No. 17 joining the team. Vegeta's Super Saiyan was superior to No. 17's strength after using the time chamber. If anything, I gather the writers wish to revive his teamwork with No. 18. It was surprisingly lacking in the alternate present of Dragon Ball's events.

Future Trunks alone cannot manage, hence we got 17

Always felt he was greatly underutilized in Cell Arc & non-existant in Buu.

His seiyuu has this great ability of alternating between snotty, spoilt brat persona with supremely cool & laid back charisma

Just wish we dont get the whole GT's Super 17 rehash again

In fact, i dont mind old characters popping up time to time. But Toriyama & TOEI gotta do justice to their relevance instead of resorting to BS asspulls like they did with BOG Arc or with the Tournament Arc....or with the Zamasu Arc...sigh...

I want Bulma to 'upgrade' 17 and 18's mechanical side to give them more powerful. If Gero can create Androids stronger than Super Saiyan, and F!Bulma can make a time machine in the fucking apocalypse, then it's possible!
