After watching the Fuji TV version of this episode, wow, that version went by very fast.
Anyways, back on topic. Great Episode! Gohan and Goten training together, Videl and Chi-Chi fighting about sex, loved it! Kara Edwards is still doing the perfect Goten voice.

I love Kai, but man they just keep playing "Theme of Super Saiyan" way too often. I think I've heard it play 3-4 times in this episode.

I personally think Funi adding 'basement' makes it too wordy.
"Super Saiyan Bargain Sale" sounds much more natural to me.

I like it cause he has a personallity here, unlike in Super wehre he's as interesting as a fish in a bowl.

This also applies to Goten, he seems like a real character here compared to Super.

I've never cared that much about Gohan, Goten, Trunks & Gotenks but seeing how bad they're written in Super, I actually think they're interesting characters in Z now.

So a lot of folks myself included were like the dub will make up for all of Buu Kai bad production qualities and... not even I realised how well I meant it haha. Seriously the green tint doesn't bother me at all, the music for the most part aswell (just a few occasions I cringed), good stuff! I guess maybe since I wanted this for so long I am enjoying every moment of it? Same for Super, the retelling of BoG is yet to feel like a chore and the episode 5 didn't bother at all, Sean's incredible acting just took me away! I knew I would enjoy the respect shows with their dubs more but I didn't realise how well! (No disrespect to the original it is just something about watching in my natural tongue that I find the most enjoyment).

I agree with everything here.

I have nothing against the original but growing up with the dub and preferring dubbed anime in general has made both of them (especially super) a lot more enjoyable then they were in Japanese.

Gohan refused to let him fight during ROF and with Hit. Goten and Gohan also stalked Goku together, and they talked in episode 75.

Same. Gohan and Goten's training together before the Tenkaichi Budokai was my favorite part of the Boo arc. I'm not even kidding. I just can't help but love it. I know a lot of people say Goten is useless besides being one half of Gotenks, but those scenes he had with Gohan really make me feel otherwise.

I was rewatching some clips of boo saga Kai and I really love their run back home after Videl came. The animation, scenery, story boarding and dialogue were captivating. I also remembered how much I liked Goten's character after those clips. You're right, Goten does have a pretty entertaining personality.

Also, I don't know if anyone else felt this way, but I feel that there's something between Kara Edwards' Goten and Kyle Hebert's Gohan voices that just sorta go together.

I think this has to do with how badly he's written in GT and Super.

In Z he felt like an actual character with potential but in those 2 he's just moving ink on paper.

Also, I don't know if anyone else felt this way, but I feel that there's something between Kara Edwards' Goten and Kyle Hebert's Gohan voices that just sorta go together.

It's Edwards' evolving of the voice that really helps. The softer tone of her Goten voice now is WAY more pleasing to the ears than when she first started, & was majorly forcing it. Hebert was never TERRIBLE as Gohan, per se, but the better direction that informs his acting & the better scripts nowadays really help his performance as him. Both are major parts of what's making this arc probably the best part of modern-dubbed DB material so far. Seriously, the only part I hate is that Meredith McCoy isn't 18 because Colleen Clinkenbeard just doesn't play her well at all. She just doesn't fit the character. Same with Young Gohan, it sounds identical to her Luffy, just not with a stuffed nose, & that's too jarring for me.
Super's fine & all, but I feel it's either too rushed for some reason, or the actors aren't in total sync with the characters' voices like they should, which is bullshit considering that these guys have had to dub stuff for Dragon Ball constantly every year since they first started. I feel it'll really come together either by Resurrection F, or after. Seriously, why does that dub feel so rushed while TFC's doesn't? They've been recording Super since July, or something I assume, given the Instagram post Jason Douglas made all the way back then. I get that TFC was recorded over the process of a year or 2, but these actors are usually really good with their voice acting.

For the record, that bit is filler. Take that however you want, but I see it as yet another example of the anime damaging characters in a way that Toriyama never intended. It's not as bad as how the anime depicts Chi-Chi or Bulma in filler sequences, but it at least explains why it feels so out of character for Gohan.
