Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 78
I'm surprised no one has brought this up yet, but in addition to an altered filter, I think the NEP also has an altered color palette.

It could just be the filter, but it looks to me like the underlying colors have been altered. For example Gohan's dougi is now a brighter shade of orange compared to the previously more red color. His wrist bands are also more cyan compared to them previously being more purple. Additionally his skin tone is brighter and more saturated, but I suspect that is the fault of the filter rather than a new color palette.
Is this just me? Or do they look different to anyone else?

Honestly this episode of tate was rather than fine, really surprised to see detailed art most of the episode.
If this is tate from now on I think that's good for the series

Yeah! I noticed it too. I think the same. I believe that when the actual episode airs it will have the filter.MrWalnut4 wrote:I'm surprised no one has brought this up yet, but in addition to an altered filter, I think the NEP also has an altered color palette.

Maybe they haven't applied the final post effects to the NEP yet, for some reason? Of course, it could just be them experimenting, trying to find the right look for the show moving forward.

There's no line filter on the NEP either, hopefully it's there in the final episode.

Yeah, the line filter is really the only thing I particularly like about this new post-processing.ArchedThunder wrote:There's no line filter on the NEP either, hopefully it's there in the final episode.

Bruh, this episode was so good!
The layouts were on point, Tate's input was pretty good, and the use of impact frames and little sparks was spot on.
That NEP though.
If they're getting rid of the filter I swear to God!
The difference it makes in the atmosphere of the show is unbelievable.

Though I don't particularly like the filter because I find it obnoxious, I would be really sad if the got rid of the line processing. That looks really good most of the time.Avok wrote:Bruh, this episode was so good!

Also, I would just like to make a statement, last week a lot of people said that the first half of the episode was very rough, and I was one of the poor fools who didn't notice. In my defense, I didn't spot it because the filter was already obnoxiously effecting the screen quality, making it hard to tell when the show was just being unpleasant, due to the fact it now looks unpleasant nearly all the time.

I really like that the filter creates an atmosphere, it really makes the colors blend pretty nicely and gives them depth.JazzMazz wrote: Though I don't particularly like the filter because I find it obnoxious, I would be really sad if the got rid of the line processing. Without it looks like the episode was made in MS Paint or something as everything looks flat.

From an objective stand-point of film quality, the filter is a detriment, by doing things such as crushing blacks and getting rid of finer detail in the background. The main positives of this post processing is definitely the line filter, which adds this gorgeous depth to the line art, which I absolutely love.Avok wrote:I really like that the filter creates an atmosphere, it really makes the colors blend pretty nicely and gives them depth.JazzMazz wrote: Though I don't particularly like the filter because I find it obnoxious, I would be really sad if the got rid of the line processing. This 1 post ID walking up in here like he knows something.... methinks we have an actual member of the production here, lol.Archah wrote:Believe me, no Wanpack today. I'm not seeing any crushed blacks, the colors on Earth and at this exhibition are nearly identical to what they were before episode 77.JazzMazz wrote: From an objective stand-point of film quality, the filter is a detriment, by doing things such as crushing blacks and getting rid of finer detail in the background. I know it sometimes can crush the blacks, but I think that it's worth it when you take into consideration the overall look of everything else.JazzMazz wrote: From an objective stand-point of film quality, the filter is a detriment, by doing things such as crushing blacks and getting rid of finer detail in the background. The lineart effect is pretty nice too, but it is pointless if the colors are as bad as they've been in the past.

They aren't necessarily "crushed", but the loss of detail is obvious when you compare. Either way, it does make the foreground and background blend, so that's good.ArchedThunder wrote:I'm not seeing any crushed blacks, the colors on Earth and at this exhibition are nearly identical to what they were before episode 77.JazzMazz wrote: From an objective stand-point of film quality, the filter is a detriment, by doing things such as crushing blacks and getting rid of finer detail in the background. I'm just over the whole thing to be honest. It looks fine for the most part, we'll live.

Was that "Toppo blocking buu's blast" scene Tate? I saw his style of drawing hands and lighting.
Feel free to correct me if I say something wrong.

Yeah, I would credit that scene to Tate. Lots of great looking effects in that scene, very reminiscent of the Trunks scene he did on #66 and his effects work on #65.Shreyas_Singh wrote:Was that "Toppo blocking buu's blast" scene Tate? I saw his style of drawing hands and lighting.

I mean, he's the Supervisor of the second half. Everything in the second half is corrected by Tate. He only did a bit of animation, but I don't know which one.Shreyas_Singh wrote:Was that "Toppo blocking buu's blast" scene Tate? I saw his style of drawing hands and lighting.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 78
I'm pretty sure that scene was definitely done by him though, his corrections can be spotted throughout the episode, for example Buu's finishing attack is a scene that was corrected by Tate, but the Toppo scene is pratically 1:1 with Tates effects output on the series.Gashif Aldi wrote:I mean, he's the Supervisor of the second half.
