Some confusion on when everyone reached certain SS levels.

Superman is physically stronger, though, so Lois has to deal with more than Bulma and Chi Chi. Plus he can't control his strength quite as well as Goku and Vegeta.

I have a new Goten/Trunks theory! This one's good.

K... Future Trunks had to have a Breaking Point because he was born, presumably, when Vegeta wasn't SS, judging by the quit shot of a black-haired Begeta being killed in the Trunks Special opening montage... but there's nothing to say he wasn't SS when present Trunks was conceived! And we know Goku was quite the SS when Goten was conceived. Now, we've already gone through the acquired traits thing, but chew on this: Goten and Trunks were Super Saiyan from the minute of thei birth, they simply did not know how to activate it, just like how you have to learn to control your Ki! Or, more realistically, how you gain your motor skills as you grow. Crawling. Walking. Talking. Going Super Saiyan. I mean, one day, they could've just gone, "What's this? What happens if I do this? ::POW:: WOAH! AWESOME".

How 'bout that?

One disturbing thing... the idea that little baby Trunks of the Cell Saga was an SS all along...

It depends if we're talking about pre or post-crisis Superman, since the pre-Crisis one could juggle planets and was capable of travelling back in time by sniffing. Probably.

But (but but) Arrrrrggghhhhhh! If this gets even close to a Superman vs Super Saiyan argument, I'm going to start being sarcastic.

IIRC, Vegeta was Super Saiya-jin in that scene. Or is my memory off...?

I don't think Trunks was conceived after Vegeta became a Super Saiya-jin. I don't think anyone had even seen Vegeta for a while before he showed up to kill #19.

I just checked my History Of Trunks DVD, Vegeta was not SS when he was killed.

As for nobody seeing Vegeta as SS before the No. 19 fight... maybe he wanted to make a drmataic announcement of it. (That's a fanwank, I know.)

But, still, I think mine's a good theory. Not necessarily right, but good.

Veggie apparently became a Super Saiya-jin before Trunks even appeared, when he was training in space (according to the anime). He was frustrated and angry that Goku'd surpassed him by so much, and the knowledge of that, along with his inability to surpass his current limits, pushed him to transform. I think he'd just been waiting until the right time to show it off.

And yeah, I'm fairly sure Veg was SSJ during his death flash in the special.

Here's the chronology I have:

- Vegeta searches for Goku in space. (Anime-only, I'm pretty sure.)

- Trunks kills Freeza and King Kold. Vegeta specifically complains about not being a Super Saiya-jin.

- Vegeta trains on Earth for an unknown period of time.

- Trunks is conceived.

- Vegeta decides to train in space to avoid the "distractions of the Earth".

- Vegeta becomes a Super Saiya-jin while he's in space.
