That they're willingly keeping the people on Earth in the dark over what's really going on on their own planet.
I could have gotten into anything...and yet I chose the story aimed at young Japanese boys about martial arts, and later about super-powerful aliens punching each other really hard.

Buu killed everyone then destroyed earth, that's something no one was able to do. Goku was able to beat Freeza while he couldn't beat Cell or Buu. during Cell he had to rely on Gohan and even died during that fight. during Buu he had to rely on the Spirit bomb, Buu, Vegeta and Satan to defeat Kid Buu.ABED wrote:Did they do much that Freeza didn't? What was shown (not said) that conveyed their danger more than Freeza?
And the new Star Wars movies have sucked. Their size is meaningless.
DC meanwhile can't get past Batman. We see how well that's working out.
But they made $$$ and that's all Disney cares about.
They can't even get batman off the ground now.

Re: Most distressing thing in Dragonball?
Actually, Freeza could destroy entire planets and did in his first form. Vegeta defeated Goku. That's not the sort of thing I'm referring to. I'm more referring to scale. When DB first began, Goku struggled to throw Bulma's car and he couldn't fly. In the Piccolo Daimao arc, Piccolo is destroying cities, in the Freeza arc, Freeza is destroying planets. Did you see where I'm going with this?sintzu wrote:Buu killed everyone then destroyed earth, that's something no one was able to do. I don't think all Disney cares about is money. That's very cynical. I do think there are those that care about the story, but just don't know how to continue it beyond rehashing old stories.

Technically, it did continue. It just got the Ghostbuster's treatment where the script for the sequel was turned into a video game.ABED wrote: I'm glad that the people who hold the rights to Back to the Future don't want it to be continued or rebooted.

Yeah I see what you mean now. Vegeta could also destroy planets though. The Kais could've easily taken care of Freeza while Buu destroyed them and countless more planets than Freeza did.ABED wrote:When DB first began, Goku struggled to throw Bulma's car and he couldn't fly. Although he didn't fully surpass Freeza or even Vegeta in terms of a villain threat, he still wanted to develop his heroes which is probably why he cntinued for nearly 200 chapters more. Sure he could've changed a bit with Freeza to end it there but it would've been a lot less satisfying of an ending if he did. I just think there's too much good in the Cell and Buu arcs to let them go.

That's a good point, and something that made me uneasy as well whenever I first watched through Dragon Ball. You would expect Heaven of all places to be perfectly safe.Lord Beerus wrote:The fact that the afterlife can be physically destroyed. The revelation would frighten the shit out of anyone.
To me, the Saiyan through Android arcs were always distressing (which is a positive thing in fiction) since there was just one barely survivable problem after another with no breathing room in-between, but they seem especially more sinister since Gohan is the point of view character for much of the Saiyan and Namek arcs and he's a preschool/kindergarten aged child forced into a bunch of horrible situations he has no control over. That's why I've always been perfectly okay with and supportive of him retiring; after that childhood from Hell, I just want him to be able to relax and do whatever he wants.

Not really that distressing imo, non-anthrophomorphic pigs are Oolong's people no more than monkeys are humans.floofychan333 wrote:Watching everyone eat pork after the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai while Oolong is there.

Vegeta could destroy a planet, but using considerably more effort than Freeza did. I'm not talking about the filler with Arlia. I do think that with a few changes, ending at Freeza would've been a very suitable ending for all the characters.
In terms of the most distressing thing in universe, Trunks future with its sense of hopelessness is high on the list.

I'm adding a new one that just came out of the oven...There's a chance Mirai Trunks is dead alongside his Universe...Let that sink in.

The fact that the entire multiverse is ruled by a petulant child with no regard for people's lives, yet has the power to nuke it effortlessly.

Oh and Goku's sacrifice later in the same arc. I mean, we probably all thought he'd be dead for good... the very character we grew up on.

The Zeno of that universe will eventually get the same idea of destroying the low quality universes, except without Goku around there's no chance for them to save themselves.Dbzfan94 wrote:How so?successoroffate wrote:I'm adding a new one that just came out of the oven...There's a chance Mirai Trunks is dead alongside his Universe...Let that sink in.

There's one in every timeline, there's 2 in our timeline because Goku brought the Zeno from Trunks' timeline to ours.successoroffate wrote:And now I'm wondering, is there another Zeno (thus making it 3, counting the two we have in U7)?TheUltimateNinja wrote:The Zeno of that universe will eventually get the same idea of destroying the low quality universes, except without Goku around there's no chance for them to save themselves.Dbzfan94 wrote:

Re: Most distressing thing in Dragonball?
I think Zeno destroying 6 universes kind of shocked me a little. I mean, 6 universes destroyed equals to trillions of people killed. Darn.
Re: Most distressing thing in Dragonball?
My sentiments exactly. I can agree with members who remind us about horrible injuries suffered by the characters, but Zeno wanting to erase 8 universes because he believes they're too many universes and all the beings will simply cease to exist as a result. At least if you're killed by Cell, Buu, or Frieza then you'll go to Otherworld.keyz05 wrote:I think Zeno destroying 6 universes kind of shocked me a little. Re: Most distressing thing in Dragonball?
I know. But the whole Zeno thing is kind of unnerving to me, actually. With this universal tournament going on in Super, it's kind of putting all the universes in despair because of wanting to keep their very own universe alive and not destroyed by an almighty god of the universes.DBS916 wrote:My sentiments exactly.
