Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 84
Does anyone have any work of Karasawa on other series? I only know his DB work.
He is good, but I'm just predicting Karasawa is a working as single supervisor now. With Ryo Onishi, Yuki Hayashi, Yuya Takahashi, Ken Otsuka, Kenji Miuma, Jin Inaba, and Naotoshi Shida. I think the tournament will have 4 episodes. Like, really. 2 episode is full battle, 2 episode is dialouge with battleshit.
Like we haven't seen Kenji Miuma, and Jin Inaba. Also, I don't care but, I HAVE A DREAM! HIGASHIDE SOLOING AN EPISODE WITH FULL ACTIONS! (Well, there's always something that twist in the story then there's a a lot of dialouge shit or maybe something happened after tournament breaking shit and stuff, we are talking about Toriyama here)
And also, I heard that Ken Otsuka also worked on the SAO Movie: Ordinal Scale. Is it true? I didn't see his name in the credits, but I see some names from other studios (I forgot).

I'm bad at English and still learning. If there's anything wrong, please correct me.

Though I do believe that Highashide could probably solo an episode with supervision and 2nd KA clean-up, I still think they are using him for quality control. Also, I really hope Karasawa comes back sometime during the tournament, it's not an unheard for a supervisor to leave and come back a couple of dozen of episodes later.Gashif Aldi wrote:Does anyone have any work of Karasawa on other series? BD Box #6 is out tomorrow, not expecting any changes but if they somehow correct the first half of #67 that would be ace.

It would be cool if they add the new filter on the BD version
kill me
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 84
I think it would be disrespectful to the previous director(s) to change how the episodes were supposed to be, but i doubt that would happen anyway.BakaManiaHD wrote:It would be cool if they add the new filter on the BD version
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 84
Yep that would be pretty disrespectful. Also they aren't going to do post production on the episodes that are already done. It's a major waste of time that can be used for episodes being done currently

I hope this BD will fix 67's first half bad art. Will we know by tomorrow?

I don't like much how Kamehameha is animated in Super, don't know if it is because of the new SFX, the animation or maybe both

I totally love how it's animated, it's epic. What i miss is the SFX. Today i watched several scenes with clashes of punches with this exact sound effect and i got mad.Noah wrote:I don't like much how Kamehameha is animated in Super, don't know if it is because of the new SFX, the animation or maybe both

Same, they look weak when you compare them to Z. It's lacking something, that's for sure..Noah wrote:I don't like much how Kamehameha is animated in Super, don't know if it is because of the new SFX, the animation or maybe both

The impact frame, that's what I feel it is missing. Not only on the special attacks, but also in transformations.HybridSaiyan wrote:Same, they look weak when you compare them to Z. I read you. The transformations in super have been so lackluster. What happened to when transforming use to be detailed and epic?Alee9977 wrote:The impact frame, that's what I feel it is missing. Like..I can watch these scenes 1000 times a day and never get bored. The same can't be said with Super power ups/ transformations etc...
What must they need to do to make it look better?

Completely off topic but my god Sabat was truly awful even in the Buu arc Z (where a lot of folks myself included thought he improved evidently not)HybridSaiyan wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quvJvFO_9uA

Sure In the GT flashback Sabat changed the line to "We'll jump straight into the part where I kill you" Something similar to that anyway lmao.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Completely off topic but my god Sabat was truly awful even in the Buu arc Z (where a lot of folks myself included thought he improved evidently not)HybridSaiyan wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quvJvFO_9uAThe "let us begin" is soooo cringey. Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 84
So do I (ignoring the dub and Faulconer soundtrack), techniques and power display in Super feels weak when we compare to what we had in Z, but I can say the fights have improved at least.HybridSaiyan wrote:Like... Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 84
The thing is, the characters transform a whole lot more in Super than they did in Z. In Z characters would transform and then stay in that form for a few episodes, in Super we have characters constantly dropping in and out of their forms. The big deal transformations (Like Trunks' first Ikari transformation) are usually fine in Super and occasionally we get a good regular transformation. Not every transformation needs to be drawn out, but a simple impact frame for run of the mill instant transformations would be nice to improve them.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 84
This fight was so fine...
Almost 8 episodes and the quality was always balanced.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 84
Impact frames are so crucial, Dragon Ball's general style benefits so much from them, but most of the animators seem to have either forgotten they exist or don't know how to properly implement them. The sound effects could definitely be improved as well, but the current state isn't breaking anything.Alee9977 wrote:The impact frame, that's what I feel it is missing. The main thing I miss is the texture that Kamehameha's used to have.
Example:

To be fair, it has gotten better in Super lately, likely due to both better direction and more time, but bland Kamehameha's still aren't a rare thing to come by.
Example:
Yeah, yeah, I know that example is from a Yashima episode, but these are common enough that it's a fair criticism to make.
Retired.
