If Freeza didn't attack Earth but continue his tyranny, would Goku stopped him

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

If it's Super Goku, he'd want to fight him, eventually stopping him as a result.

Manga Goku wouldn't get near Freeza unless asked for help or one of his friends is threatened.

No Goku would do it without a personal reason to do so.

No, Goku would have lived his life as usual until he attacked his planet and therefore endangered his friends. He wouldn't hunt him down.

Goku can't stop something if he doesn't know it's happening. Goku doesn't go around the earth looking to stop evil, and doesn't go around planets looking for any Frieza-like beings. However, if King Kai asked, I'm sure he'd go stop him.

Goku let him go on Namek so he probably assumed he'd just leave them alone and go back to doing whatever he did.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

I think fans are really exaggerating the extent of Goku's supposed selfishness. I always felt like selfish wasn't the right word anyway, and reckless is a much better description, because as singleminded as Goku can sometimes be, he is clearly a man who knows right from wrong, and there's never been an instance where he was made aware of injustice and just didn't care. He always goes out of his way to help people. He doesn't go searching for evil because, again he is very singleminded, but if Kaio or some nice alien asked him for help, he'd be there.

I feel like, in the backlash against FUNi Superman Goku, a lot of traditional fans go to the opposite extreme and try to paint Goku as being a completely immoral sociopath. But he's clearly a very heroic and kind man. Toriyama said Goku has elements of poison. That's the reckless and foolish singleminded decisions he makes. But he always makes these decisions fully believing he will be able to save everyone. He's never consciously risked lives. You can argue this makes him stupid, but he's still very moral. Toriyama said Goku has elements of poison, not that he IS poison.

Goku would spank Freeza's ass like his father never did.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

Probably. Goku doesn't like lives being like 'hurt' I guess. He isn't cold hearted.

I'm guessing he is the kind of person to travel around the world just to fight someone strong.

I don't even think Goku would notice that Frieza lived until North Kaio or some alien refugee informs him.

Well Goku would ever know about him. And knowing North Kai. He wouldn't tell goku. Cause he knew that Frieza would slaughter Goku. However part of him would realize thag Frieza will eventually find earth. Then inform Goku and the gang to
Train to get ready for him.

At this point King Kai isn't the top authority in the show, Whis & Beerus are. I'm pretty sure that Frieza never destroyed anything after his revival in the Resurrection 'F' movie/arc - all he did was training with Shisami/Tagoma for 4 months and invade the Earth once he achieved his Golden Form. If he had been destroying planets then Whis, the Kaioshins and/or King Kai would knew of this since they'd pick on his power level, and then they'd inform Goku & Vegeta who'd HAPPILY go to take care of him AGAIN. Once and for all.

As long as no-one on Earth is any immediate danger, I don't think Goku would have cared.

Essentially this. If Goku knows about it, he'll do what he can to help, but he can't help if he doesn't know. Goku is very much a great person, just simpleminded.

Unless if Kaio-sama personally asked him to do something about it, probably not. If Freeza never attacks Earth, how would Goku know that he survived? Though I suppose if someone did inform him that Freeza was alive and that he was back to subjugating planets, Goku probably would pop off to Kaio's to find him and end the threat.

Goku's not even dumb either, contrary to popular belief or recent portrayals.

Anyway, here is my take on this and its two fold. Out of universe Toriyama has an interesting perspective on what makes a moral and right thing to do. I think Toriyama's morality aligns more to the "greater good" side. It's an alignment which is more obvious in more homogeneous cultures. What this means is individual is worth less than the greater good or multitudes. So Goku's actions, for instance his statement that Doctor Gero didn't do anything yet its both moral in understanding the innocent until proven guilty, but immoral in some cultures as it risks the lives of many for the freedom of one. Same with his Vegeta comments, he let Vegeta go to fight him again, but also promised Krillin he would take him out next time if he came back, further he also acknowledges that this was a selfish request of his and pleading and asked Krillins permission. That isnt something a person who doesn't understand the concept of morality would do.

So I my opinion, I think Toriyama considers Goku's allowance of individual freedoms and the opportunity to fight as immoral when weighed against the greater good.
I also believe this message or morality will not resonate as well with American audiences where the valuing of the greater good over an individual is discouraged and frowned upon.

Goku very likely would have stopped Freeza if he heard that Freeza was murdering more people but I don't think that would be on his mind unless he was told about it.
