Most of the corrections are either unnecessary or hardly even noticeable, meanwhile the episodes that require genuine correction like some Kitano and Yashima episodes are left untouched. Why did they make such selective corrections in episodes that looked fine already?
To correct poorly animated moments would take effort tho.

The corrections here are just to show us that Toei care's enough about Super to do corrections, but at the same time make it for them that they don't have to waste time/money doing actual corrections.

They never touch Kitano or Yashima's episode, probably because it would take too much time to correct them.
Episode 7 is the only Kitano's episode which receives corrections, and it was just for 3 Dende's shots.

Honestly, i just think that Morio Hatano wanted to finish his episodes like he wanted to do, and then he left the series. Remind that episode 66 got production issues!

What do you mean by production issues? I had no idea 66 got problems.

Well, don't you remember? Crunchyroll delayed episode 66's simulcast because of production issue. Ajay tweeted about it.

I also remember when people were saying that super would have bad animation before the episode came out because of the preview showing that fight. Little did we know.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Episode 86

Animation Supervisors
Noel Ano-Nuevo
Joey Calangian
Naoki Tate

Key Animators
Naoki Tate
Kenji Miuma
Yong-ce Tu
Shūichirō Manabe
Shuntaro Mura
TAP

2nd Key Animators
Osamu Ishikawa
Miyuki Yokoyama

-

What a nutty episode! I'll have a few rewatches to let it sink in, but right now, that definitely feels like Tate's best episode. So good!

The first half did have a decent bit of Tate, but it seemed to be where TAP's focus was, I think. Great planning to have them focus on that while Tate goes wild in the second half. Even then, I'm not convinced their involvement was substantial.

Very interesting key animator list. Seems like Manabe did the Minotaur bit, but was heavily corrected by Tsuji. Miuma did the tanks blowing up after Tate's little actiony bit, I think. The smoke matches what we presumed to be him in #66.

Thank you, Tate.
I'll edit this when I calm down
There was a loop frame scene where they exchange fists while falling head first into the sea which looked similar to Ryo Onishii's cut in #14. Also, not only was the episode saved by Tate's animation, this time the backgrounds were rich too.
Feel free to correct me if I say something wrong.

Super has been a roll with these fight scenes. Tate did a wonderful job with the second half of the episode and 17/Goku fight was fantastically fluid and and on model.

What a great episode, also Tate was all over the episode and not only in one half.

Oh so this was half TAP and Toei. I wonder when Wanpack is up. Also, Tate is too good. I loved his action scenes a lot. Maybe his best so far.

SSJ Goku V 17 Tate was kinda iffy for me, but SSJB V Tate was good in a way, but I dont know, I didnt really feel anything special from his cuts.... guess his style really doesnt fit my eyes.

Yea, his character art can be jarring for some people. However I would advise to not care about it that much while it's in motion, just enjoy the impact, facial expression, smears etc. You will like him a lot more if you give it that approach, I promise :)

Makes it two. I also don't love it. Hopefully we won't anything as ugly as his part in episode 72 again. 67 episodes later and that episode gave me episode 5 vibes...

I don't know, Tate is just a wildcard and his style is definitely not for everyone. I don't ride that train and I would never let him be the character designer of this franchise.

I will give my full thoughts when I see the entire episode though. Overall, seems to have been good.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

I really want to know how Noel Añonuevo's style looks, we have seen him for a while supervising Super episodes, I think we have another Añonuevo too if I'm correct.

Interesting, so Manabe was also a KA this episode. I wonder what he did. I really enjoyed the scenery of this episode too. 9/10 for me.

This episode was really well-animated! One of the best in the arc so far.

I really like the glow effects on the SSJ and SSJB auras.

Maybe it's just because of the setting, but it's really premium. It feels movie-like.

Just gonna leave this here.

Fair play to Tsuji, actually. I was initially miffed by her corrections, but watching this through, they're super subtle during all the action. She really let Tate shine. Major respect.

Good God. That was amazing. The background art for that fight was absolutely wonderful. I'm struggling to think how Tate will top that. It's just so... free-flowing and dynamic. It think this may be Super's best cut of animation yet.
