Let's be real Yamamuro isn't going anywhere. A interesting thing I noted that someone pointed out, iirc it was Osama on Twitter a while ago that even if Yamamuro were to be replaced, the new CD would be asked to replicate his designs in order to keep it in familiar territory. If that's the case and I definitely think it could be, even if Yamamuro left nothing much would change.
As Ajay said in his Yamamuro video, he is as much of a part of Dragon Ball as Toriyama and we'll have to live with that.

On the other side of that coin, Yamamuro has been changing his approach to... well... everything. His character designs, his supervision, and I assume his general approach to drawing seems to have taken a slight turn for the better in his recent work.Saikyo no Senshi wrote:Let's be real Yamamuro isn't going anywhere. His current art style is very animator friendly. If he keeps this style he would be a good CD. I can't believe we have a CD that makes the designs worst.Jinzoningen MULE wrote:.
I'd certainly like the designs to be based off of his, but I doubt he has the know-how to provide consistently animation-friendly designs.

I do hope he AD's or at least provides some key animation in the ToP, this sort of arc needs all hands on deck and they have a capable guy who can do good work, as you have noted his Trunks special supervising and the new ED, right there.Jinzoningen MULE wrote:On the other side of that coin, Yamamuro has been changing his approach to... well... everything. A new character designer could keep things familiar and still make the designs more animator friendly.Saikyo no Senshi wrote:Let's be real Yamamuro isn't going anywhere. At least Yamamuro is improving, I hope he continues to improve and at some point is given the chance to do new design sheets for the cast.

You're looking for some 'gotcha!' moment to somehow invalidate others' opinions or to point to some bizarre hypocrisy. It's all very tiring at this point.
Be comfortable in your own opinion and others', too. It's fine. You're allowed to feel that way. I did polls recently and a lot of people really liked Takeo Ide's work. Doesn't make a lick of sense to me, but I'm fine with that.

In all likelihood Yamamuro will be the face of Dragon Ball for the next 15-20 years. One thing I've been wondering though is if the person who will end up being the next character designer for the franchise is someone currently working on Super or if they will be someone who will come to the franchise later. It's fun to think about.
Of course, this is assuming Dragon Ball is still a thing in 20 years.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 86
Tsuji provided the vegetto character designs and her character looked very close to Yamamuro's work but younger. In case the CD changes in the future, the new guy will probably produce something similar to Yamamuro. We can't expect something similar to Pokemon where the designs and the whole approach totally changed. Of course dbz was different from db and now super is different from GT and Z so everything is possible. I doubt any animator (except maybe Tate and Kitano) have any issue drawing close to the character sheets and at the same time, each person adds his/her own unique characteristics that make every episode fresh. If schedule wasn't an issue, I doubt that this whole "Yamamuro's designs are not the best" would be a thing, since animators would have enough time to polish their work and provide consistency between episodes.ArchedThunder wrote:In all likelihood Yamamuro will be the face of Dragon Ball for the next 15-20 years. Also Yamamuro's art has changed since Kai, so we see that even he tries to evolve and create the most suitable style for the show. I still believe thst his approach (buu saga+current Toriyama) is the best choice for dbs

Disney didn't stop when the original voice actor for Mickey Mouse passed away.
As much as I love Nozawa work, the franchise shouldn't die with her. I'm not fan of that logic.
Just like Disney did with Mickey Mouse, Toei should find someone who can get close to Nozawa's registry.
She's already 80 years old and it's already surprising how well she's doing, but sooner or later they should start looking for and train her successor.
It won't be easy, but it can be done. The new voice actor will feel the weight on her shoulders when everyone starts doing comparisons, but that's how life is.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.
Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

Many anime productions that chose to change or had to change their VAs, decided to go with completely different voices and I think that would be ideal for Goku. Seek a young VA with his own unique voice to give it a try.FortuneSSJ wrote:"The show must go on."BakaManiaHD wrote: Could Dragon Ball be a thing without Masako Nozawa? (except the manga)

I have spoken with many VAs in my country that are officially voice acting for Disney and they are against the whole "find a person that sounds the same" idea that Disney asks. Especially with Donald. The reason I mention him is because his voice is produced through a filter instead of been some VA's actual voice

Part of me wonders whether I've misidentified this scene.
Basing that entirely around the shapes in the impact frame on the Kamehameha though, alongside the effects shapes in the long shot after it.
I don't really know, though. The first few seconds of that cut were reused earlier in the episode and were tied to some stuff that's definitely Higashide.

I think it will be someone from Super, but not Shimanuki, Tate., Ide, Shida, Yashima etc. Most of these people will be in their 70's and some 80's. It will be someone new who has worked in Super. Maybe Karasawa, I don't know how old he is now.ArchedThunder wrote:In all likelihood Yamamuro will be the face of Dragon Ball for the next 15-20 years.
