In Sparking mode kind charge plus melee is an unblockable send-the-opponent-going-really-far attack.

What I really want is control over my B2/UB energy attacks. I want to follow the if they start to run away after I fire the attack. I also want to deflect B2/UBs.

Dead or alive plus Dragonball, theres not so much crazy stuff in Dragonball to ruin the fighting system of DOA, it's basicly the best fighting system next to Tekken.

If any of you play doa 4 on live then you know how great that would be.

I'm actually not much interested in a new DB/Z game now. It's either going to be another retread of Budokai or Tenkaichi or some junk that plays on the fact that people love unoriginality if it's their own (Online).

I'd buy a Lego Dragonball Z, though.
The Budokai games actually needed stratagy, unlike Sparking where even the COM spams the same "charge Ki, charge punch, use Special, repeat" tactic.
Thus, Tenkaichi proves once again that it's the most accurate DBZ game ever. Image

Sparking & Budokai were fun, but both series pretty much exhausted themselves. (I'm still buying Sparking! METEOR, though. Shoot me.)

Glad someone else said it on the first page so I didn't have to. I totally agree with this.

Super DBZ 2 FTW!

Because all the Sparking! Fanboys didn't like Super DBZ, what with being original, requiring skill, and not having a story mode that told you what you've read/watched/played a dozen times before.

It broke formula! HATE!

^ I guess this is the type of hate Duo means. I liked Super DBZ's look, but then again, I'm tired of fighting games in general. Non MMO RPG please.

I love the Sparking! series more. It's unique, and unlike any other fighting game. Besides being a DB fanboy, the game is just FUN. I keep going back to play, as my friends constantly challenge each other at it.

Well...erm, that's not what I mean. As you example suggests, yes there are Super DBZ fans that constantly bash the Sparking! fans, but it's also vice versa. So it's full circle if anything. I don't mind that people like Sparking! I think both games are unique in their own respects. I'll apologize for the misunderstanding. I don't want this turning into a Gamespot/GameFAQ thread.

I don't need to comment on the unnecessary disrespect, so I'll add that I think we need more DB-exclusive games that don't dive into Z. I think it would be so cool to have TaoPaiPai be one of the major villain characters to choose from, and have Piccolo be the end-all ultimate threat to the protagonists.

The Raditz could be like a secret character or something, that'd be awesome.

I wish I had friends who had the patience to learn this game. My friends have all moved away and when they do come to visit they don't want to try this because the learning curve is too much.

Somehow I've managed to keep playing the game all by myself and not get bored.

I .. don't see how there is much to learn. This button punches, this button blasts, this button blocks... and if you powerup and blast at the same time, things explode.
The most learning really is the various combo-endings and defensive maneuvers. And really, I don't even know how half the defensive maneuvers work other than "have a lot of power and press circle. Or fly away really fast.".

Actually, I think all of the stats and equipment in the Budokai games require more learning... you have to pay much more attention to things outside the fight... at least B3 lets you do some capsule assignments at the character select screen.

Yeah it's mostly the combos that take time to learn. There's a lot of buttons and dashing and flying can be hard if you aren't used to it.

All I have is the single player experience and the occasional (once every five or six months) when someone agrees to play and I'm reserved to sticking to light melee attacks so that I don't I don't completely annihilate them in 10 seconds. That's why I can't wait for BT3's online mode. And still don't understand why the PS2's version can't have it.

As for the Sparking vs Budokai vs SDBZ, Super Dragonball Z offers just about everything that we've been asking from Dragonball fighting games with regards to customization and being an actually fighting game. And how hard is it to do a quarter circle forward and press a button (if you've never played a Capcom fighting game you do not deserve to be called a gamer).

Rather difficult when you're used to L2+Triangle.

Might be a fault in me, actually. I have trouble in God of War when the joystick prompts come up.

Also, 10-second Super Saiyan. RARGARAGF
