To me, The Super Dub seems accurate to what I've seen in the Japanese version of Super, but to me, EVERY voice just seems off in the dub. I don't know if I''m just used to hearing the voices on older animation or only seeing Super in Japanese with Subs, but I don't have this problem with the Japanese voices, they fit anywhere! Its only the Super Dub that seems off...

How so?
I never heard complaints of lines being changed for either of those 3 dubs. However, it seems with every super episode, some dub change complaints come up.
Oh there were just as many "changes" in those dubs too, things that weren't scripted that were left in (Schemmel's additional of Son Goku for example) etc They added jokes into BoG just like they have done in retelling, RF they changed the explanation for SSGSS and the Freeza line in my sig wasn't in the original if I remember correctly just a few examples.

I think some people don't seem to understanding that a dub is an adaptation of the original and is and never was meant to be the original, the same way DB/Z anime was an adaptation of the original Manga and how its different in parts to that Manga. It seems most of the people who do complain don't follow the dub as much as the original and never intended to anyway, like I've seen a fair few comments on social media etc people like to berate the dub when it does something wrong but these people don't say a word when the dub does something solid. I also think there are more complaints because it's Super there seems to be this negative aura about Super that people just feel like complaining. DBS dub is exactly following their previous efforts from Kai 1.0 onwards, same directors, same script writers etc nothing has changed.

Those changes were still in the spirit of the original series. They were in no way patronizing or obnoxious.

I've been hearing this a lot lately. Where did the notion even come from? Everyone expects the dub to diverge, it's an adaptation. I think it's far more likely that this regurgitation is used to shut down any criticism of the new dubs, of which there are many.
Baggie_Saiyan wrote:DBS dub is exactly following their previous efforts from Kai 1.0 onwards, same directors, same script writers etc nothing has changed.
As far as the general accuracy of the script, you're right. However, many of the performances, Goten and Chichi being the first that come to mind, come off as forced. There are more senseless script changes than in Kai or the movies. Less natural flow of dialogue.

Is it a bad dub? Not by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a general step down from its immediate predecessors.
Retired.

I don't think "I'm the Super Saiyan, SON GOKU!" was an added line, it was on the original too.

I meant as in the original dub script, they ever don't refer to Goku as Son in the dub, but Schemmel said he felt that moment.

And he was right. It was BADASS.

He also said don't expect it to happen again anytime soon. He had to push it to happen, and Sabat agreed to it. It's not something they would start doing as it was a truly special moment.

Except that Schemmel's been suggesting a LOT of things that got thrown in since Kai, so there still might be some things to come.

I'm just saying that I'm very glad I waited to watch these episodes dubbed. The cast is having a blast with the material, I can tell.

Not that it matters much because Pan is only a baby here but Pan is voiced by Jeannie Tirado who recently voiced Koala in the English dub of One Piece Film Gold. I wonder if she'll replace Elise Baughman for Pan in general because her voice can be a nice replacement for Pan when she grows up

God, I hope so. I HATE Pan's dub voice. The endless whining in GT, thanks to GT's lack of emphasis on anyone that wasn't Goku, she had to do saw to that.

Who knows, maybe Funimation will do a redub of Dragon Ball GT, that's on the same level as the Kai dub, and cast Jeannie Tirado as Pan. Then again, they'll also might cast Colleen Clinkenbeard as Kid Goku, which is a voice that a lot of people hate. (Well, more less than her Gohan)

Even if Dragon Ball GT is crap, I think that what you say would be very interesting.

I don't what it is but there is something off about Cynthia Cranz's Chi Chi. I don't what it is but I just find her current performances really strained.

Sean Schemmel continues to kill it as Goku. His delivery, especially with comedic lines, is spot on.

Personally love those lines. If I want a 1:1 translation, I watched the sub. I listened to the dubs because it's my native language and they tend to add some flair to makes it feel more alive. Funi does the same thing for its One Piece dub that fans mostly love.

Sounds fine to me. She only sounded off in Episode 1.

Goku barely took a backseat in the Buu saga, at best he took a leisurely stroll round back while everyone else cried for him to come back.

I keep seeing this and I don't agree. But maybe I'm misunderstanding. When you say 1:1 translation, do you mean a literal translation? If thats what you mean then I do agree. But I personally prefer dubs to be as accurate as possible. I really don't like added lines or jokes. Someting I've noticed is that a lot of English dub fans don't think like this. They are much more lenient in terms of scrip accuracy(jokes and added lines). And I don't get that.
