- Due to staff taking off for Golden Week, at one point the episode had only three people working on it.
- Cuts were still being worked on two days before the episode was due to air.
- Yashima is capable of finishing 330 cuts within a month!
In other words, Yashima can pull off twelve cuts a day. The average key animator usually only handles two. He's a true beast and I wish he was allowed to be a sole key animator more often. He deserves that reward.
I was just re-watching Shirobako Episode #3 today and one of the [fictional] key animators mentioned he once finished eight cuts in an hour. I don't think we know who he's based off of, but I'm willing to bet there are some crazy folks out there who can do something similar.

I'm convinced that Yashima isn't human. That is insane.

Octopi can imitate human movements, can't they? I think we have our answer!
Tu is a beast too. If Yashima can do 11 a day then he can do around 9 a day, which is still way above average. Good and Glad to have people like this on Super
It might not always feel like it, but Super is extremely lucky to have Yashima. I've learned to have a soft spot for the guy, even if his style isn't the most appealing. He's even a better storyboard artist than many people give him credit for (including myself at first!). It's actually kind of a shame that he hasn't storyboarded in a while, but it's pretty understandable.
The fact that Yashima produce can Key Animations like a printer, made me curious.
If given time, can he give us a Sakugabooru worthy cut?
He's super-fast.. I mean it's possible right? Concentrating all of his skills for a fast-paced-intense 1 minute breathtaking battle scene.
But, I don't know if producing a Sakuga is something that's so complicated for Yashima.
In my dictionary Sakuga is a beautiful japanese animation, but I saw Kitano in Dragon Ball Sakuga's Twitter made me think twice about it.
I'm bad at English and still learning. If there's anything wrong, please correct me.
A cut, or a "shot", is a sequence of drawings (key frames) of an important scene.
Goku firing a Kamehame-Ha is cut #1 followed by a zooming toward Gohan, which becomes cut #2. Gohan reflecting Goku's Kamehame-Ha with his own Kamehame-Ha is cut #3, and so on.
A key animator is able to produce a few cuts per day, but in Yashima's case, he can do about twelve a day.
Yashima's also quite old, isn't he? I suppose outside of natural talent, his years of experience have aided his storyboard work and possibly speed. Despite his style not being very appealing, he clearly knows what to do and how it needs to be done without hesitation. We're lucky Super has him.

That's insane. Give Yashima a pay bonus. He bloody deserves it.

I still haven’t lived down going, “Who the heck is Tao Pai-pai?” that one time I was talking with Ei’ichiro Oda-kun. But the fact that there are still people reading the series after all this time… All I can say is; “thank you.” Really, that’s all.

And that you also have IMMENSELY skewed and comically backwards priorities in what you think is most important and needed to make a good Dragon Ball story.

Yoshitaka Yashima knows what he's doing. He's been a key animator for as long as Yamamuro was, or even before him. The only thing he's better than Yamamuro is the key frame composition and speed.
And while we are on the subject, he was the key animator for Dragon Ball Z Movie #5 and #8. He key animated some scenes. However, his style may be overshadowed by Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru and Masaki Sato. Both were the character designer and assistant animation supervisor, respectively, after all.

Who's said that Episode 90 is one of the worst looking episode? They clearly haven't watch episodes 5, 24, 25, 26 and 33. Although the first half of episodes 25 and 26 had some good animation, the second half of those episode looked terrible.
But 33 wasn't horrible looking. It just had odd animation shots.

Goku barely took a backseat in the Buu saga, at best he took a leisurely stroll round back while everyone else cried for him to come back.
Yashima is a god, his speed is why he's one of my favorite animation supervisors even though his work isn't the most appealing.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.
Ajay wrote:I asked Shida if he was currently working on Super, and he said he is, so there's some good news!
That's great! Hope his cut is longer than the one in ep. 66, but anyways, having him again is great. I just remember that before Shida animated for the first time in Super, we always thought that having him animate something for Super was just a far away thing but now is becoming more and more normal which is really cool.
