Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

How's he just another Vegeta? I've seen the special a dozen times and I've always seen them as very distinctive characters. There are some similarities, like their harsh personalities, but it's like comparing Vegeta to Piccolo. Both were evil and changed, both were arrogant, both devoted their lives to killing Goku, and both strove to become the best. But, would anybody refer to Vegeta as nothing more than a derivative of Piccolo? No. It's the same with Bardock. Unlike Vegeta, Bardock was powerfully loyal to his race and teammates. He was even willing to die for them. There was no conceivable way that Bardock would ever have bowed to Freeza if he had survived the attack. Vegeta did. To him, his own survival was more important than pride or loyalty. Vegeta would never have risked his life for Raditz or Nappa; he wasn't bothered by Raditz's death and was the cause of Nappa's. Vegeta was egocentric, Bardock was altruistic. There are other moral and personality differences, but I think this is the key one.

I agree with you. Heck, in the manga after finding out the truth about the Saiyan homeworld, Vegeta said he couldn't care less about the planet, his fellow Saiyans, or his parents.

I, er, haven't seen the dub Bardock special. It's just that with DBZ's predictability level, it seems pretty obvious what the outcome will be. Besides, Bardock is just too much like Vegeta, which should say enough.

Conversations like this remind me why I hate fanfiction and fanfiction writers. Sorry.

Some of us see the series and characters as more than just worn-out formulas and machismo. The series has depth and so do the characters. I made my point and supported it with my post to Xyex. You couldn't argue it, so you just repeated what you said before and added that you hate fanfic writers (me). It doesn't matter that you disagreed, but the personal jab to puff yourself up was rather pathetic.

Fuck you.
Sorry.

We aren't all that bad. How many of us are there on here anyway? There's me, SpiritBomb, Alias, Eppy, Daysrping, and who else again?

Anyway...

Alias: Yes, I understand what you're saying about Bardock. I'll give most you of what you said but somehow it still rings as another Vegeta. I'm not saying that if you gave Veggie a Bardock suit he'd be able to fool people.

*Mentally sighs as he tries to figure out how to write this.*

Something makes me doubt that Bardock cared as much about Vegeta-sei as he did his team mates. That would be the same as Vegeta and his family... Damn, I suck at debating things... There's other points I want to make... but... can't figure out how!

Argh!

Well, that'll have to do until my brain grasps the situation...

<Xyex> Original Freeza never sounded like a chick to me.
<Kaboom> Neither does Rita
<Xyex> Good point.

Xyex: I understand. My reasoning capabilities are so superior, that most people can't help but be speechless.

I disagree with your points, but I'm too ill to be able to discuss why. My last post about Tapion on another thread has left me drained. :(
