'This is Roshi not holding back' is not the same as 'Roshi is stronger than Tenshinhan'. All the background we have about the characters indicate that's not the case. It's not like we have only this episode to measure their stength, they have a history and we know it.

Using a technique efectively against someone does not automatically make him stronger, Tenshinhan was on his feet in seconds. Ten was not stronger than second form Cell, to give another example. They just didn't continue fighting, if they did, Ten crushes Roshi in seconds. He was already stronger in the 22nd tournament.

A writer even confirms Ten is stronger, settled. They probably just overdid the whole Roshi thing a bit to show he is not as useless as everyone thought. Ten paid the price, but I didn't think he was weaker for a second.

I guess we could blame Goku's dialogue of "This is Master Roshi when he isn't holding back" for the confusion of the very few who truly believed Roshi had skyrocketed past Tenshinhan.
In hindsight Goku is perpetually fooled into thinking Monoka is one of the strongest fighters in the multiverse, and was later convinced he was fighting him, when it was really Beerus in a cheap costume.

He's not that bright.

Does it really matter? The humans are still the weaker fighters and won't do much in the TOP.

Tenshinhan was out of breath, Goku saved him or he would be koed easily.

Well said. Incompetent writers need to take all the criticism that they deserve.

Hitto will kick them out with a single shot and as you said they won't do much. They are just useless weaklings. Hitto should kill them in a painful way.

It seems Julian Styles is scared to ask the writer who is stronger Kuririn or Tenshinhan, because, in the bottom he knows Kuririn is stronger.

I never knew it was this much of an issue. I mean, Tien got right back up from that punch from Roshi like nothing happened. And then just got stunned by special technique.

And after being stunned he was out of breath unable to defend himself until Goku saved him from taking a full power kamehameha.

Tenshinhan was good as new in two seconds. You can predict he would have been koed, but you don't really know. Considering how strong Ten is comparing to him and his training history, I say he would have gotten out from that easily.

The writer of the anime confirmed Ten is stronger, you can't use the anime as a proof Roshi is stronger now.

I think you need to see the episode again. Tenshin said that Goku saved him.
The writer said that he thinks he is stronger which means he is not sure, don't you think?

Given he's a member of the creative team with better insight into any of this then either you or me, and said he "realized" Yurin's spell boosted Roshi's power, I'd say you're wasting your time trying to argue with every single person who posts here, let alone discredit this.

Given he's clear about the witchcraft boost, speculating Tenshinhan is stronger in that same tweet is understandable.

I'm not trying to discredit anything just pointing out the obvious. Even if Yurin's spell boosted Roshi's power if Tenshin was any good he should have been able to crush Roshi, but, instead he lost the fight like a fucking bum. Are you going to deny that Tenshinhan was humiliated without limits?

It's highly unreasonable to parse one writer's words through a language barrier to use as Word of God.

Just thought it should be put out there given most of the discussion surrounding this episode has been saturated in over exaggeration.

But Tenshinhan was humiliated without limits, don't you think? I mean, he lost with old Roshi.

Not really a viable source as this writer wasn't even involved with the episode and it was outright stated that the powers Roshi had under Yurin's spell was the powers he had within him all along.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

More viable than any of us on the subject. He's a member of the creative team. Regardless of which episodes he worked on specifically, he would know this stuff.

But he is contradicting what was said in the episode, so that means the creative team are a bunch of incompetents.

Let's be honest, Tenshinhan was treated as trash, because, he is garbage.
Saying I think it's a manner of speaking, doesn't mean he wasn't sure. They probably asked him his opinion, that is what he thinks in other words.

Tenshinhan wasn't treated well, but he is not garbage. You don't like him, ok, that doesn't make him garbage. What happens is that it hurt you being proven wrong, as you have been saying Roshi is stronger, but he is not.

Using a technique effectively against someone doesn't make him automatically stronger. No way Roshi surpassed Tenshinhan, who was already stronger than him in the early DB. Time only made the distance bigger. Looks like Roshi got stronger too, he could handle a dozen of Freeza's soldiers, but Ten was better then too.

This is not as bad as saying Satan is stronger than Yamcha, but it's close. It's ignoring all DB and DB Z, it makes no sense.

I agree with you, but saying that Ten wasn't treated well is an euphemism. Ten was treated as trash and in the end he still lost with old man Roshi.
I liked him as a character until it was proven that he was garbage, because, you know, he lost with old man Roshi and as you said if Tenshinhan is so much stronger than Roshi like he should be that attack shouldn't work.

Fallacious thinking. I can endlessly cite examples of writers not knowing the whole of the material they work on. I've personally asked questions to writers and have been told someone else on the team would know better; that it wasn't their area. Continuity mistakes happen because not everyone on the team is on the same level of knowledge.
