A question about Cell
A question about Cell
So I was re-watching parts of the series with the subtitles on the other day, something I enjoy doing because the dub is awful about leaving out small, interesting tidbits that may not necessarily be related to the plot, but are fun to know.. when I came across the following:
Piccolo: 'You can't escape by using the sort of Kamehame-Ha you did before!'
Kuririn: 'Kamehame-Ha?! How can this guy use Goku's Kamehame-Ha!?'
Cell: 'Not just the Kamehame-Ha, Kuririn! If I wanted to, I could probably form a Genki-Dama!'
Which got me to wondering, because not only did I not know he said that, but I also wondered that if he said that, could he potentially use the Kaioken also?

Well I'm sure if he needed to use it he would. I don't think the occasion had arisen where he had to use it. If that makes sense..

Re: A question about Cell
You seem to have implied that Cell doesn't reference this in the dub. He does there as well. Cell really has no reason to bluff about using it, though why he bothers bringing it up at all confuses me since even 50% Freeza was able to survive a 50 meter sized version. It was nice though to have a mention of it, since aside from the movies, the Genki-dama never pops up again till the battle with Kid Buu.Horgus wrote:So I was re-watching parts of the series with the subtitles on the other day, something I enjoy doing because the dub is awful about leaving out small, interesting tidbits that may not necessarily be related to the plot, but are fun to know.. when I came across the following:

It's been many years since I've seriously watched the Funi Dub (which was what I was referencing above)Conan the SSJ wrote:You seem to have implied that Cell doesn't reference this in the dub. I don't remember it being mentioned but it may have been and I just overlooked it in between the numerous references to the Androids being toasters and other consumer electronics.

In Dragonball Z BT3, Perfect Cell's Ultimate Blast is actually the Genki-Dama.Horgus wrote:So I was re-watching parts of the series with the subtitles on the other day, something I enjoy doing because the dub is awful about leaving out small, interesting tidbits that may not necessarily be related to the plot, but are fun to know.. when I came across the following:

Perfect Cell's ultimate has been a Spirit Bomb since Budokai 1.Humpski wrote:In Dragonball Z BT3, Perfect Cell's Ultimate Blast is actually the Genki-Dama.

<Kaboom> Neither does Rita

I don't think Cell could have used the genki-dama. There's all that harmony with nature and crap you have to be to do it. Cell just spits out lies to scare people, or trick them. He knows the genki-dama, he can blow up the solar system with all the energy in his final kamehameha, USSj Trunks is stronger than him. Blah, blah.

Isn't Movie 7 the only source that really says you -have- to have a good heart for form a Genki-dama? I don't recall anything in the Manga or series itself, really, that says an evil person couldn't learn the technique.
Also, Trunks -was- stronger than Cell the way he was, it's just that Cell hadn't shown he could make himself many, many times stronger.

I think it may have been another "pure" heart statement, which could then be twisted by the "pure evil" statement.Duo wrote:Isn't Movie 7 the only source that really says you -have- to have a good heart for form a Genki-dama? Or, in Cell's case, "pure ownage".Ex-Dubbie369 wrote:I think it may have been another "pure" heart statement, which could then be twisted by the "pure evil" statement.Duo wrote:Isn't Movie 7 the only source that really says you -have- to have a good heart for form a Genki-dama?
