DragonBall Z: Season Three on Z Store

Post by Li'l Lemmy » Fri Aug 24, 2007 6:44 am

The Z Store's presale of the highly-anticipated DragonBall Z: Season Three box set has officially begun. For those who want this set, want it early and don't mind paying a little extra, go get it!!

For those who dislike the Season Sets, don't forget about desirecampbell's shit-in-a-box-and-mail-it-to-FUNi idea. The bigger your dump, the louder your voice. :D

That Goku VS Freeza battle is going to sound bizarre if Funi has Freeza's VA re-record her lines. Moreso than I think 99' Goku sounded when speaking to the redubbed Vegeta and Kuririn. @_@
On hiatus.

I'm not gonna order it, but I'll buy it when it comes out for 30 bucks at Wal-Mart. But desirecampell's idea will just get you ignored even more by Funi. Funi even said on their message boards to just send well-mannered, non-obscene complaints, not stuff like this.

Which resulted in a 10 year wait for a simple music change.

Oh, but... uh... Yeah. I'm buying this because it has Goku and Freeza in it. They fight. 'Nuff said.

While I originally thought that with the first two seasons being a first-time uncut release that the Season Three set was going to be the first real "test" of sorts, but the fact that the previous DVDs of these episodes never got released as a complete set (or even with consistent eyecatcher inclusion and complete playback) has changed my thinking.

This set might be the biggest seller yet.

Oh yeah, weren't they only available on VHS, what with DVD's not being popular until 2000?

I have all the Freeza discs on DVD. Granted, no eyecatches, but they have good subtitles and are otherwise uncut. I see no reason to re-purchase.

But you guys are right, this is probably the first true test of what will happen as far as sales are concerned. But I'm on the other side, I will be very surprised is its the biggest seller yet.

I'm thinking of the Cell Games saga. For some reason, those episodes were never released on VHS until May 2003, and DVD until November 2004.

Let's remember that this is Zstore. When you order a season set off them, you get it at least 5 days early! As much as it pains me to say it, I might be picking this up. Damn you FUNimation, why didn't you release the Freeza saga in a DVD box set?

I already got in my Pre-Order. I will be buying these sets all the way through. I enjoy seeing a Dub with the JP Music. But I mainly continue buying because all of my DBZ TV Series collection is VHS.

I don't see the logic in paying about $8 more plus shipping just to get this thing or anything a little early; you might as well set fire to that same amount of money and watch it burn.

I also fail to understand the excitement for this thing, as it is still the same butchered product as the last two were.

Because not everyone minds the widescreen or doesn't have them already.

Yeah, I for one have managed to ignore the widescreen and have managed to observe what's on my screen instead of trying to imagine what isn't anymore.

Uh, Z-store just happens to ship things like two weeks earlier.

Hah, why are they shipping them all on 9/11? Seriously, they couldn't wait one more day? That's wacky. Anyhow, I might as well pre-order this monster. Hopefully nothing bad will happen to me on 9/11.

Heads in the sand, everyone! So basically, you're saying: "Yes, I'm getting screwed, but I'm going to revert to severe-denial mode and pretend that I like it. THANK YOU FUNi, MAY I HAVE ANOTHER."

I'm aware, and I guess if you're cool with putting down an extra $8, plus shipping fees (which are, no doubt, inflated) so it'll arrive two weeks sooner, then that's your journey. I'm just saying that, IMO, it's a waste of money, and another one of FUNi's methods of milking its compulsive, pushover fanbase.

It's weird how they deliver things early
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Nah, I'm just saying I got used to it. I mean, I haven't watched the series in a long time, I became a fan again, it's never on TV, I'd rather wait for the Kanzenban to buy the rest of the manga, so why not go with the cheap alternative to piracy?

Sure, there might be a quarter of the image gone (an eighth on top and bottom with essentially nothing on the sides) some blurring to reduce noise, maybe some discrepancies here and there, but I honestly don't care anymore.

It's either these season sets, spend a few extra hundred dollars to get the DragonBox (for which there are no subtitles and therefore no understanding which is no fun for me), pirate the entire series with shitty image quality and horrible subtitles with little or no coherency, or hunt down a couple dozen DVDs and VHS that are out of print and the series be incomplete and edited with no JAP/SUB option.

And if that in your eyes amounts to your past statement, then yes, by all means I'm enjoying being in denial and being screwed over.

I'm going to have to stop buying these, I guess I'm one of those 9 year olds born every day. Each set I keep saying "I'm not buying this" but I see it at Best Buy for about 20 bucks and I can't resist. The low price and me not owning these DVDs drive me to buy the thing. Maybe I'll learn French and go buy there boxsets or something.
