A couple months ago, I had created a thread that had mentioned similarities to the Cell Games with Goku's role in this tournament and how it may lead to Gohan getting the "big moment". That thread was shot down by several members, but I will be bumping it once my bold prediction inevitably happens - Goku gets standout moment(s) of the tournament for U7 before getting eliminated, thus leaving it to Gohan, and possibly Vegeta (and now Freeza), to go the rest of the length without him. Mostly Gohan though.dragonballhero wrote:Anyone else getting a "Cell Games" vibe form Goku and Gohan there? No? Just me?
Piccolo was never on the same level of villain as Vegeta, and certainly nowhere close to Freeza. The series did very well with making Piccolo's turnaround believable. It took Vegeta nearly all of Z to turn the corner, and it was done in a satisfying way. Freeza has never been under that oppression and was always in full control and awareness whenever he committed unrestrained horrific acts, although his henchmen did the heavy lifting as directed by him. Freeza is a character that can't be redeemed even if you gave him 100 episodes of Super to "turn the corner", imo.khazgore wrote:both vegeta and piccolo used to be villains, and turned good. who knows, maybe that happens to frieza aswell`? i doubt so, but we never knows.
I wouldn't be surprised, however, if the series tries to push Beerus as the one mostly responsible for why Freeza is the way that he is/was, if Freeza is kept around long-term (stand-in for Beerus while he was sleeping... ?). Whatever happens, it would have to go well beyond this tournament arc if they want to try to sell it as such. I don't see him as anything but a cold-blooded villain though.
