I don't know why a question being asked or topic being discussed is how strong a character is in-universe. It is such a non-issue at this stage.shadowmaria wrote:Yeah, didn't agree with the power scaling questions at all, it seemed pointless.Slaythe wrote:Hey they had their priorities straight, it was clearly worth two questions to shit on 17 being strong in Super.shadowmaria wrote:Nothing was announced as far as I could tell at the panel.
Then again, nobody in the audience asked any questions pertaining to casting or confirming James Marsters

I liked Sabat putting aside his personal opinion of GT to make way for the professional response, which he's used for a few years now.
But something along the lines of 'do you think we can expect new casting announcements for upcoming arcs such as the original press release for the Beerus arc, or will it likely more of a case of surprise upon character debut?', or 'are you able to make comment regarding speculation that Zamasu is voiced by James Marsters in XV2, and are the voice cast from XV2 likely to crossover to the anime as well? (sometimes, this doesn't happen. Final Bout, for example)', or 'on a creative decision level, Sean Schemmel, (form my speculation from up-threat in the form of a question regarding Goku Black's voice)?'
Also, from what I could gather, nobody brought up TeamFourStar, for which I was glad.

Interesting, Schemmel while on the panel talked about Goku and Piccolo doing the cabage thing, that happened in Black arc correct? Think that seals it they're definitely dubbing the Black arc now.

Not really. From what I was able to catch before the stream ended up in another dimension, Horikawa generally made statements of agreement with Sabat and Schemmel.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Nakao gave some hints a/b DBS when he came to a con recently did Horikawa say anything?
Nakao was the Frost and Frieza thing, wasn't it? That episode was two weeks ago and that slip-up was at least a couple of months ago. Does that give us an indication on how far in advance the seiyuu's are reading their scripts, or at least discovering their character's individual arcs?
That's basically how the VA's treated the question. Schemmel basically summed it up as "because the plot required them to be stronger"Lord Beerus wrote:I don't know why a question being asked or topic being discussed is how strong a character is in-universe. It is such a non-issue at this stage.
The cabbage farming was the very first episode of the Black arc, just before Mirai Trunks arrives in Age 780. Goes well with my speculation from the panels back in late-April, early-May that there was a hiatus following the Hakaishin Invitational. As Goku isn't too heavily featured in the episodes leading up to the Black arc, it's probably safe to assume that Schemmel may have been able to do a lot in a short amount of time (depending how long it's currently taking FUNimation to dub an episode of Super, at least per VA)Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Interesting, Schemmel while on the panel talked about Goku and Piccolo doing the cabage thing, that happened in Black arc correct? Dragon Ball Super Part 1 is officially releasing in Australia! Still no TV airing of this show which is a goddamn shame. Was really hoping we'd get it sometime soon.
Still bugs me that Part 1 doesn't include Episode 14, which concludes the Battle of Gods arc. Really strange.

How do you all want to translate Zen-Oh? Keep as is or Omni-king? King of All etc?
Yeah saw that a few weeks ago. I'm actually surprised there isn't an Australia/NZ specific thread for Super, but anyway this is good for UK folks too since we share the same BD region code so anyone without a region free BD player can import the Aus version.Super Saiyan Swagger wrote:Dragon Ball Super Part 1 is officially releasing in Australia! They will probably use Zeno. FUNi put up some trailers for the Universe Survival Saga a few months ago translated by Daimao (Steve Simmons), and they used Zeno. I don't see Zen-Oh, Omni-King, or King of all being his name. Maybe as a title like "Zeno the Omni-King" so people can know what he is.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:How do you all want to translate Zen-Oh? It's not really. 13 episodes per set is pretty standard for Funimation's singles, and obviously the ending point of each arc is beyond their control.Super Saiyan Swagger wrote:Still bugs me that Part 1 doesn't include Episode 14, which concludes the Battle of Gods arc. Really strange.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
Seeing the funimation dub of My Hero Academia and Assasination Classroom and comparing it to Super's dub, i feel like Super is not getting the treatment My Hero Academia and Assasination Classroom got.. Super's dub is kind of subpar compared to these two, in terms of dialogue and mix/mastering (this might be due to my streaming not being of good quality).. I feel like in Super the audio is limited and compressed and sounds kind of weird, but again, that could be due to the source i've been watching it on. But that doesn't excuse the poor dialogue at times.
Even compared to Kai, the dialogue is kind of weak. Only Frieza, Beerus and Whis have proper dialogue. They should improve that issue.
I know i was praising it the other day and my opinion hasn't changed, i still think the dub is much more enjoyable than the sub, but still, there's room for improvement.

Its only the Toonami tv rips that have poor audio quality, if you go on Funimations youtube channel and watch any of their Super clips you'll hear that the audio sounds perfectly fine.Hit!! wrote:. As for the dialogue I can only assume it sounds kinda weird because Funi is, for the most part, copying the translated scrip word for word from the movie versions of Battle of Gods and Resurrection 'F, and now it feels weird hearing the actors say the same thing with a different video source. Anyway I'm pretty sure any of the issues with the dialogue will go away once we get into the U6 arc.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
I've been waiting for someone to say this, I noticed it since Episode 1 when Kai TFC played right after it. Super's dub is.....only decent by modern FUNI and general dubbing standards. The script feels stilted in places and ..... It's hard for me to put my finger on it. But as I've also been watching MHA, it's dub is leagues better then Super, and it's a simuldub!Hit!! wrote:Seeing the funimation dub of My Hero Academia and Assasination Classroom and comparing it to Super's dub, i feel like Super is not getting the treatment My Hero Academia and Assasination Classroom got.. Aside from a few actors in Super, I'm having trouble getting invested. Some actors are perfect and feel like they're preforming, Jason, Ian and Chris as you said mainly. The biggest difference for me is Sean's Goku. In TFC, for the first time since I was a kid I've enjoyed Sean's Goku. I really don't like Sean's Goku in Super, some lines are great and feel Goku, but other lines feel overdone or badly written. It's not all Sean's fault, it's also due to how Goku is being written in Super. But it's just plain and clear that Goku in TFC Dubbed is much better written and acted then Goku in Super's Dub. I can feel some actors putting an effort in, Monica Rial is a pleasure as always. And I can't wait to hear Clifford Chapin as Cabba, once I hear him I'll be able to tell if dub Super's issues are related to acting or scripting.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
I think that Super's dub is just fine as it's accurate and well acted and even though it may insert a joke here or there, they make them fit within the story so they don't feel out of place. The Final Chapters was something that, before release, was being dubbed since 2013 meanwhile Super just started getting dubbed a year ago this month so obviously there will be some difference, but it still falls in line with the quality of the dubs of Battle of Gods, Resurrection 'F' and Kai. Super as a whole is just a wonky show up until the U6 arc because it's pacing just seems off up until that point but I don't think it has anything to do with the dub. Its just that Kai and the two movies have much better pacing than the start of Super so that may be why the dub seems off to some, but it's not as I think that feeling of something being off that some people get is just from the show itself

Ahh screw it I'll get the BD for Part 1. Feel guilty for not watching the dub legally plus NEPs and such. Plus even if I don't like the retellings much the dub has been pretty great so far definitely deserving of my money.
Hopefully audio commentries too (even though they weren't listed as extra's).
Part 1 is #10 on Amazon's best selling anime it's #8 of you don't count Looney Tunes and Lion King. Buu Kai Part 3 is #50 I cry

Definitly looking forward to Goku's epic Blue transformation tonight even if the episode overall was the ugliest we've had in Super so far.

I still remember the exact moments of my life when watching #24 live when it aired in Japan. A fairly large family gathering was over and while everyone was trickling out, there I was exhausted and then decided to put the stream on and good lord it was painful, literally face palming and deeply sighing all over the place... yeah not great. I actually didn't hate #5 that much even pre BD corrections, I even made an avatar with gifs from #5 to show my support of it but #24 nope, just nope.TRIZACK wrote:Definitly looking forward to Goku's epic Blue transformation tonight even if the episode overall was the ugliest we've had in Super so far.

Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

It's for the episode after which didn't really need it compared to this one, or rather this one should have been priority.
