To the point now, Shimanuki's faces finally stopped looking so round (even though I think he should adjust them a little more to look totally on model) but still some of the bodies in this episode were too skinny.
The original character models removed some of muscles from z, making characters losing their big chests but the latest episode featured Goku and Vegeta with skinny legs.
Since aerial battles can't happen now, the best idea would be to focus on close-ups with a lot of detail.
The 4 frame loop punches need to have the body parts to move more natural. Some of Vegeta's quick punches were very still and as a result he looked like his body didn't move with his hand, which is unnatural.
It was an aside discussion. I'm through explaining my point since he's not going to accept these objective criticisms, and keep calling them "subjective" There's no point in critique if everything is "just like ur opinion bro" Since I'm approaching this discussion like an empiricist, and him like a relativist, there will be no common ground, so I'm stopping here.

On topic:
I was really looking forward to the "no flying" rule because that would make combat more extensive, intricate and choreographed than just rapid fire punch n' kick, but if that reused shot of 18 from last episode proves anmything it's that they'll probably just use "Falling with style" logic which makes me a very sad panda. Logistically speaking, could Super handle an actual choreographed, hand-to-hand fight scene?
The "gather fighters" mini arc had numerous battles with great choreography. Since Gohan vs Goku it feels like Toei told to the staff "draw punching loops more"

Yes, almost every Higashide scene. Of course it's not quite at that level. I understand the disappointment that since the tournament started it contained mostly repeated frames, but I think we'll get some choreographed fight scenes.

People are suckers for punching loops as much as stills(See Shingeki no Kyojin, considered one of the best mainstream anime series of all time).

The punching loops with Hop/Lavenda and Vegeta looks better than the exchange between Base Goku and Base Gohan(which looked a bit stiff).

They could use some moving backgrounds or random people fighting. Still images, with generic youtube explosions, and characters doing their 2 frame loop looks awful

Yes it can. What I'm curious about is if Super is capable of having fights like these for longer periods of time in an episode. Hopefully the ToP will surprise us and deliver a spectacle of a fight with wonderful choreography and stellar animation for a big chunk of an episode.

By the way, I love that FMA Brotherhood cut. Need to rewatch that show soon. So good.

According to Kanzenshuu, it was Kaori Takamura, and not Kaori Sumeragi!

"Well-received" "overwhelming positive response". I know you're comparing this place to Reddit where any comments expressing criticism about the show is downvoted. It's the only place where people don't even bother trying to express their own opinions anymore if it's not overwhelming praise towards Super. At least here there's a variety of opinions.

Heath coming in to save the day.

That's strange. I had the kanji perfectly and I couldn't pull any results from my usual sources. Oh well, that's that mystery solved.

I've just checked myself, and I believe you're actually right.
This is what there is in the episode: Image
And Kaori Takamura is: Image

See? The first kanji is a little bit different!
Maybe it's just a typo and that's why Heath went with Takamura, but maybe you're right!

Reddit is only one of the sites I go. And what you wrote isn't even true since they're plenty of criticism on Reddit, some that get a lot of up votes.

Goku barely took a backseat in the Buu saga, at best he took a leisurely stroll round back while everyone else cried for him to come back.

If you want to talk about the general vibe on Super across the web and can do so without disparaging the communities, then by all means make a thread about it, but it's very much irrelevant to the intent of this thread.

Thanks, all!

I thought it was Kaoru, so this means we don't have a woman on the animation staff, right? Meh

Kaori's a female name, while Kaoru is used for both genders.

We do have other women on the animation staff, though. Miyako Tsuji and Miyuki Yokoyama are both female.

Cool ! it's always good to see the women working on DB. By the way, answering to Noah, there are more women working on DBS, such as Yui Kinoshita, Rieko Sugawara and Tomoko Sato.
