Transformations themselves don't. The suddenness of the transformation did.
Add to that Super Saiyan not being a 'natural' transformation like Oozaru or Zarbon's, and I see no problem with Super-Saiyan-bulking-up being painful before the Saiyan adjusts to it.

I'm sorry, but if you think the Hungarian travesty is better than the US version, you're letting your biases control you.
The way Goku screams each time one of his muscles gets bigger is terribly lame.
Yeah. I mean, it's not like the sudden muscle growth is forcibly stretching his skin or sharply increasing the tensions on his tendons and bones.

I've watched the video again, and you're right, the Hungarian dub is pretty bad. I wouldn't say it's worse than the American one, just...different.
And I agree with Vegard Aune, Goku's scream and Piccolo's voice are awful in Portuguese, but otherwise the acting is good.
And for the muscles thing : come on, you know what I mean. Even if the transformation is painful, one long scream is enough : after all, all the muscles grow up at the same time, don't they ?
That's what I hold against the American dub in general : too much emphasis on everything. Maybe I would be more indulgent if it was the one I've known when I was a kid, like I am sometimes with the french dub. But still, even if I prefer watching american series in english (except the Simpsons), when it comes to DBZ (and japaneses series in general), it's a no-no.

I really enjoyed the way the German actor screamed, but why were the SFX and Music so quiet?

I disagree. Kaioken Goku vs. Vejita? Sure, pain. Trunks going Brolli against Cell? Sure, pain.
Goku merely transforming in front of the Artificial Humans? Nah. It's simply a Kiai on crack, IMHO.

How come Goku did/said nothing during the Freeza fight after he powered down saying he was quiting. He powered right back up without missing a beat.
Also, how are we to define a "natural transformation"? Its not like they need a power ring to make the change, I'd say its all natural.

Well you do gotta think about the situation. He was giving Freeza a chance to get away...and Freeza used that chance to defy Goku and attack him thus taking granted the mercy he was given. Goku was pretty pissed off and he sort of snapped. I think he probably didn't give a second thought to how the transformation felt at the time. In this scene he was relaxed and pretty much being a show off.
Elitism is a very bad personality trait. I'd rather deal with an eager to learn moron than a mean-spirited, angsty piece of shit.

Now you guys are starting to grab a straws instead of letting the facts tell the story. You're basically advocating it hurts "some of the times" and those are the times FUNI decided to put extra screams in there. It just doesn't work...

I don't recall there being substantial bulking up from Freeza Saga Super Saiyan. And anyways, he was in the middle of a life-or-death battle with a planet shredding itself beneth him. The adrenaline dulled whatever pain there was.

Maybe I used the wrong word. I meant it as something the body is accustomed to, whether from it being from birth (Zarbon's, assumedly) or through conditioning (Super Saiyan, esp. post-RoSaT).
Goku, having not likely trained in Super Saiyan due to it being so overwhelming for Piccolo and Gohan, is unaccustomed to it (also the matter for the heart disease maybe having an effect).

A bit off topic here, but it's still relevant since there was a Spanish clip thrown in there, why do 99% of Spanish anime dubs have the voices so much louder and imposed over the music?
It's really annoying..

And yet he had the ability to go SSJ at will when Trunks arrived. To me, that indicates a certain degree of being accustomed to the transformation. And thus I repeat: it's simply a kiai.

Grasping at straws? To be honest I'm just explaining why he would scream when transforming. And that's a pretty good explanation. I'm not sure why this matters much anyways...

Okay, I cave. Japanese Goku is simply using a variation of a kiai to concentrate his ki, whereas English Goku is a wuss who obviously didn't train and sounds like he's auditioning for Ed Norton's stunt double in American History X during the shower scene
Funny how neither Goten, Trunks or Gohan (who are much less seasoned warriors) showed no pain when going SSJ during the Buu arc, especially when the lattermost hadn't really trained in 7 years.

Maybe he wasn't accustomed to making that transformation yet? I dunno, just speculating.
Try to stretch your mouth, the first time it hurts, the second time it gets easier and so on. So yeah, I agree.

Gohan was a Full-Power Super Saiyan, and Goten and Trunks were born with the ability.
And actually, it might be the heart disease. Goku was out of breath from flying; as he became a Super Saiyan, it put greater strain on his heart.

Wow. Poor Bulma and Chi-Chi, labor must've hurt! :P
(And BTW, I'm curious as to where you got
that impression O_o;;)

This I can agree with somewhat, but I still think you're taking this whole "if he screams, it must hurt!"-thing too far. They power-up and they scream. It doesn't mean every single thing they do hurts.

By that standard, Cell should have died in the Anime when he attained Full Power to try and stop Super Saiya'jin 2 Gohan, because he was screaming for like...14 minutes straight.
Mind you, this isn't the "bulk up" thing either.

Well, well.

Funimation's was the best in my opinion, followed by the Japanese and then the Mexican versions. Crap on a stick, what's with Piccolo's voice in the Brazilian dub?

He sounds like a robot. (The Hungarian Piccolo sounds strange, too. As does Goku's screaming in that particular dub.) Goku's Portuguese screaming started off alright, but then it kinda went down hill. -_-; Ah well.
I noticed that Funimation's dub is the only one that didn't use the original Japanese mix. Course, I like the Funi music better in this scene.
What's scarier than a DBZ H-game?

The real reason is though, that in the manga they only scream for a couple of seconds, while in the anime they want to drag everything out as filler.
