The quality the episodes have very little to do with ratings. As I said, people are discussion less because there is less to talk about and characters that got a lot of heated debates like the U6 Saiyans and Rib aren’t around anymore.Michsi wrote:
5+ is what I'd call good TV ratings. It wasn't bad, that's why I said "meh". 118 was accompanied by a lot of discussion and comments, and apparently received a great ranking (not TV rating) among Japanese fans. I follow a lot of DB fans on twitter too and "meh" is exactly what I'd describe the reception for 120 there as well, if they even bothered to post anything about it.
As I said, I'm curious to see if this was a fluke or not. In the end it all depends on the quality of the upcoming episodes, but I mentioned already, even mediocre to bad episode generated a lot of buzz before. Whether it was because Freeza, Ribrianne ,Kefla or whatever else doesn't matter, those episode had something working for them the last one didn't.

Not ratings, but opinions/reception. And quality matters now, because as you said, there is less to talk about and less characters to carry the show/look forward to. The few that remain need put up a good show to make up for the more lackluster setting.HeroR wrote:The quality the episodes have very little to do with ratings. Opinions are opinions. Like there are those who despised Goku vs the U6 Saiyans and bitch about it every week, driving up the page count on the discussion here. 117 was just okay too, yet most of the discussion were fans singing Ding Dong the Witch is Dead over Rib.Michsi wrote:Not ratings, but opinions/reception. Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Let's not act like opinion won't sooner or late spill over into the ratings. There's a general consensus that the Future Trunks arc was better than this one and the ratings reflect that. And there's the saying about how bad publicity is still publicity, so even if the discourse was heated, what matters was that it happened. And by the way, there were about as many that defended the U6 girls, so it was more or less a clash of preferences, which most shows have, and not a one-side bashing of characters.HeroR wrote:Opinions are opinions. I just have a feeling that there won't be ramifications for this arc. I just think that there is right now a huge reset button ready to be used. I just hope that just doesn't happen though. You're reading too much into it, the zen exhibition matches at the start had a low page count too. Infact I remember making a point about it in one of those threads.Michsi wrote: I think it's already showing. Look at the episode thread, it barely reached 7 pages of discussion. A first since the TOP started I think. I know it was an average episode, but even average episodes used to get more attention/discussion than this.

What general consensus? I have seen plenty say this arc is the best in Super despite its flaws. Also, ratings are down across the board for the top 10, so it’s hard to compare ratings here.Michsi wrote:Let's not act like opinion won't sooner or late spill over into the ratings. I know, I was one of them. My point was that they drove most of the discussion even when the episode was just okay. Even when they weren’t in the epsoide.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I haven't. Fans seem to like it better than the retellings and the Champa arc, but not the FT arc. I like this arc better than the last one because it uses more of the main cast, but from my perusal of several sites (excluding reddit) FT still seems to be the favorite. Again, this is my personal assessment from what I've gathered, but I'd love to see a an actual poll one day.HeroR wrote:

Not sure what to tell you. On Reddit and Reset Era/Gaf, many called this arc the best in Super for the same reasons as you.Michsi wrote:I haven't. One thing; this is arc is still new and fresh, so that might be an important factor. That's why I said 'one day', after people had time to mull it over and judge fairly. It'd be great if this arc ended on a high note and was considered the better of the two, but only time will tell.HeroR wrote:Not sure what to tell you. When the Universal Survival arc ends, I'll get right on that.Michsi wrote:I haven't. Fans seem to like it better than the retellings and the Champa arc, but not the FT arc. Why so? The result is obvious:Michsi wrote:...but I'd love to see a an actual poll one day.
1. Future Trunks arc
2. Universe Survival arc
3. Champa arc
4. Battle of Gods arc
5. Ressurection of 'F' arc.

I guess it all depends in how the current arc will end, if will be a predictable finale or not.Michsi wrote:Well that's just it, it doesn't seem to be that obvious. That's what me and HeroR have been discussing.

I find it funny that the Ribrianne episode did better ratings wise than all the episodes that came after it so far.

Wow, even though this episode was a great one. I really thought the episode was going to get at least a 5. But, let's not start the whole story that Super is getting cancelled. I don't think that is going to happen at all. You just wait and see in a few weeks. The ratings will start going up soon.RedHeat wrote:Pack it up boys, looks like DBS is getting canceled soon.perucho1990 wrote:
