Does Frieza actually call Yamcha beautiful in the Japanese dub?

I always forget just how amazing Dameon Clarke is as Cell. He adds so much personality to Cell's character just through the way he says things.
The more I listen to Mills the more I feel like it’s definitely him trying to copy Ayers but also doing his own thing. I still like Ayers better but Mills does a pretty good job.
Dameon Clarke is a fucking mad man. I can’t even begin to state how amazing he is as Cell. Every single line delivery has so much personality dripping behind it.
Also in terms of fucking up the subtitles and localization, this isn’t anyone at Funi’s fault is it? ArcSys does all the localization and subtitle translations right?

I too noticed the subs not matching the real thing. Annoying.
I'm finding this game kinda a bit of a chore to slog through, I should have just watched the cut scenes on YouTube and saved the money, thought it'd kill time before XV2s last dlc...

Yeah don’t get this game for the story, it’s hilariously bad and so so so so boring to slog through given how the AI stands there the entire time. Only the third story arc that focuses on 16, 17, 18, and 21 is any decent and it still has a lot of laughably bad writing.TobyS wrote:I too noticed the subs not matching the real thing. Annoying.

Unfortunately you gotta do it all if you wanna unlock 21.

Well, the major problem with the story for me is the inconsistency with Android 21's backstory. In one case she says she's 10 years old, then she says she had a son... We can't even try to conciliate all the information because they contradict themselves.
It's all messy as of now, but hopefully everything gets well explained without too much problems in her future appearances.

I haven't played the game yet to really see how that all plays out yet (because I'm STILL waiting on my copy to get here, gah!), but I'd assume the two comments are actually quite workable together, at least based on the spoilers I've read. The original human women that 21 is based on and is essentially a recreation of had a child. The current being known as Android 21 has been around for ten years, so thus, ten years old, in the same way that Piccolo is like three years old when he fought Goku at the tournament.Grimlock wrote:Well, the major problem with the story for me is the inconsistency with Android 21's backstory. Again, that's just my assumption anyway.

Another thing lame about the dub in this game is how characters refer to (Pure) Boo as Kid Boo when they could simple call him Boo or Majin Boo.

This might sound weird.
But i think this game would be even better if there is controller vibrations.

Got my copy delivered to my place of work on Friday. Hooked it up in the boardroom at the end of the day and had a handful of people drop in and play a couple matches before taking off for the weekend. It was a good time.
I finished 2 of the 3 arcs of the Story mode over the weekend. I'm definitely enjoying the game. The story isn't great, but if nothing else, I appreciate that it's decently robust compared to most fighting games. And some of the character interactions are definitely amusing. But I can also tell there were a lot of liberties taken in translation, for better or worse. Some of the English dialogue really forces jokes.
And most of the cutscenes are the same, "Hey guy we just added to our team, we all need to let PLAYER control us so we can fight" shtick which gets old really fast. Especially with how long those cutscenes are if you, like me, insist on listening to all the voice acting. It's been very tempting to just mash through the dialogue.
I've only played 1 online match so far, and it was in casuals. I won. I'm not an FGC type at all, but this game's accessible enough that playing casuals in the beta seemed to consistently give me matches that are around my general skill level. So that's good and will hopefully keep me playing and enjoying myself.

Android 21 herself says she had a son and she herself says she was turned into an android. So clearly she's not based on anyone. So far so good.Gyt Kaliba wrote:The original human women that 21 is based on and is essentially a recreation of had a child. But then, it seems the one who says "I'm 10 years old" is the good half of Android 21 (given she appears with other clothes), but that still doesn't make much sense/isn't very clear, as the game doesn't seem to provide more information on it either. Also, there's another dialogue where she says she was created, was given IQ and etc...

What? It hasn't? A DB game without vibrating controls? That's sucksHyena_Yamcha wrote:This might sound weird. But I think this game would be even better if there is controller vibrations.

Does the story AI ever get harder? ~25% through and they just stand there most of the time.

Oh, so there's still conflicting stuff even beyond that base statement that...makes it not work the way I'm thinking either. Also, now that the game is out, has anyone figured out if you can play online against others with this game without PlayStation Plus, or do you need Plus?

Well I've been playing it loads since it came out and am loving it so far. I've beat the first story arc and am halfway through the 2nd, beat a few of the arcade mode paths, and completed all the combo challenges.
I find the story to be really fun and enjoyable, even if it does feel a bit convoluted at times and the CPU is too easy. I've also played quite a few online matches and my experience has been really good with regular matches and minimal lag. A very addictive game overall.

I'm starting to think the levels might make more difference then I first thought I accidentally ended 3 of the missions early on the second story leaving my chars under levelled. I was collecting all the cut scenes so wasting exp on scrub characters I needed to use. At one point the game crashed unequipped my exp bonus items....
So I found the last few levels hard. My tough chars got too wounded often...
I like the story at the moment I'm assuming they are 3 different what ifs. They are different. She eats the villains early in the first one and they are main guys in the second.

Yes, but not for a while. I don't know why there are so many tutorial matches littering the board throughout most of the first arc. There's no way you won't end up getting multiple repeated tutorials. And even the ones that aren't tutorial matches have pretty braindead AI until after you're done with that arc. Nothing presented any kind of challenge until I was close to done with arc 2.dario03 wrote:Does the story AI ever get harder? ~25% through and they just stand there most of the time.

I'll probably pick the game up when it's cheap, what I've seen so far looks pretty repetitive. If it wasn't for the game having a story mode I probably wouldn't have got it at all.

Android 16 being "rebuilt" seems kind of pointless with what little role he had in the story mode. This is the main reason I don't want to see 16 return in the main canon, they would do nothing with him.

I'm loving the core gameplay so far but I gotta see if there's an option to start me in the offline lobby because this whole server thing is a nightmare.
