About the topic,
It's dragon ball so I'll watch it.

I am bringing a cannon.Analytical Delusion wrote:I actually really enjoyed Super for the most part, so I'd be ecstatic if the next series is of similar quality. Following the anime and the manga as they come out has really been fun for me.
As I've said before though, the movie arcs were the weakest of the series. Not because the source material was bad, but because it was designed (in both cases) for two ~60 minute movies, which didn't translate well into sagas lasting over a dozen episodes each. Everything thereafter was pretty solid, and IMO better than a lot of the original material.
Gun to my head, the U6, Zamasu, and ToP arcs were better than pre-Piccolo DB and the Buu Saga in DBZ.
I actually really enjoyed the BoG retelling, it fixed some problems I had with the movie but added it's own set of problems in the process. I didn't like the U6 tournament much but I agree from Trunks arc onwards some of it is better than the original material imo from the Cell arc onwards.Analytical Delusion wrote:I actually really enjoyed Super for the most part, so I'd be ecstatic if the next series is of similar quality. Oh it's true alright, people just have their nostalgia goggles on when it comes to Z now.supersaiyanZero wrote:You keep parroting this and unfortunately it's not true. Anyone who has taken an intro writing class can see just how bad the decline has been. How can you compare an obviously broken production that is plagued by a horrific schedule, inconsistent writing, and what looks like a lack of any coordination between the original author of the manga and Toei to a relatively much healthier production in Z? It's absurd and so is your comment.
You think the writing of Super is better than the Buu and Cell arcs? You can't be serious. Maybe the filler episodes but then there was the Poteufu arc which was just badSSJ YUSUKE wrote:I consider Super to be superior in writing and story to both the Buu and Cell arcs yet I still like those two. It gave us two of the best villans the series has seen in Zamasu and Black and and has utilised the cast far better than Z ever did. It has introduced strong female characters and gave us an ending to an arc, which while not happy was appropriate.
Supers world building has added so much to the Dragonball Universe and if anything I think I am more excited for any new series that will come out as there is so much to build on.
Do you have the same complaints about the TOP as in the other tournament arcs in Dragon Ball?Ajay wrote:I'd still watch it - it's Dragon Ball, after all. I think it'd become much like Super is for me now, though: a job, a thing to analyse, not to enjoy.
I've never been so disillusioned with Super as I am right now. If and when it comes back, I seriously hope they remember what Dragon Ball actually is, and never drop back into this WWE-tier episodic nonsense ever again.
I think I'll answer that for you.
