Besides, if fanfictions don't cater for your interest, then don't read them. But theres no need to diss them.

I agree with this for the most part. :3
I have plenty of TV shows and movies that I dislike--there are some TV shows I can't stand, but I'm not vocal about them on the internet.

Insulting all of fanfiction is like insulting all of fanart or insulting every amv ever made.
Do not generalize people based on one bad fanfic you've read.

Creativity's a good thing, I don't think there's enough creativity on TV or in the theaters nowadays and see no reason to go up to people and say their choice of expressing themselves is stupid.

Yes let us all get our opinion in before the day is done, okay now that that has been settled what about that Yamcha?

Agree 100%.

My apologies to Godo and NeptuneKai, I misquoted by accident. And I'm not trying to change anyone's opinions, I'm just defending against blanket
judgements, as well as the insinuation that fanfic authors are thieves that steal people's ideas.

There's plenty of fiction out there that isn't worth dog-shit on a shoe, but there's also some amazingly creative stuff as well.

In any event: I don't want to derail the thread any longer, so I'm disengaging from this line of conversation. Yamucha all the way.

Did Yamcha ever use his other wolf fang fist outside of the 23rd Tenkaichi?
The super quick one I can't remember its name.

I think this is half the reason the Anime did some 'development' in the filler after Trunks' arrival and before the Jinzouningen. Similarly to the end of DB with Gokou and Chi-Chi's wedding and whatnot, they at least showed a progression of some romantic development to make it SOMEWHAT more believable that they would eventually give birth to Trunks, whereas in the Manga it's just kind of like, WTF, Toriyama-Sensei needed a new Saiyajin character so he took the single full-blooded Saiyajin and paired him up with the only still-focal somewhat-single female character in the series still...using the fact that Bulma always had problems with Yamcha as a good a reason as any to say 'yeah, okay, let's hook these two up randomly so I can get me a new Saiyajin'...

And possibly a little 'Plus Bulma's probably a slut anyways so even if she and Yamcha were still heavily involved it won't be that big a deal, whatever' ...

So in the Anime, they toss in a bit of filler with Vegeta's shower/pink shirt scene and some minor development (that word being used loosly; it IS DBZ afterall) with Bulma PRIOR to Trunks' arrival, then a bit more building on it after and before the timeskip, like when Vegeta hurts himself in the gravity machine, etc...so that it wouldn't be as much of a leap as the Manga version where we were just expected to believe Vegeta would either A) randomly soften up to this human woman and begin a relationship with her or B) ...rape Bulma...and DBZ was still a kid's series, soooo, yeah...

Either way I find it kind of ironic that they spent so much effort trying to 'develop' their relationship when it's pretty much ignored after the birth of present Trunks aside a few things here and there (ones fans will often point out being Vegeta's suicide or when he gets mad at Gokou for offering Rou Dai Kaiohshin...Bulma porn...)...most recent example that jumped out to me was when I rewatched Movie #13 a few weeks back, where half the movie takes place at CC, involves Trunks and Bulma pretty heavily, and yet...Vegeta is nowhere to be found. Until he randomly appears for the fight scene. It's like, WTF, you spent all that time trying to make Bulma and Vegeta more believable as a couple, and then during one of the few moments of non-super hyper action (the 'lull' of Movie #13 in this instance) and make him...not around?

DBZ logic really amuses me sometimes. :P I suppose that's why it's got so much potential for fanfiction and self-developed storylines on the things left out, but...y'know, that very fanfiction has so much potential for just...sucking...badly...

...I'm kind of rambling now so I'll shut up since I forget what this topic was about, now. o.o

As DBZ progressed it was mainly about the more stronger fighters and Yamcha was nothing compared to them so i guess he would have been worthless. But I really wish that he was more included in the Buu saga and GT storyline. :(
