Good.

But I'm still gonna have to kill omae for stealing my high spot for even a second. *sharpens knives*

As for Toriyama... It isn't just the DB art, it's everything else. NMZ 1 and 2 were really... pathetic. And Toccio's designs and stories were terribly ugly. Even in his interviews he seems like he's out of it. Almost as though... he died six months ago and they just dug him back up.

Vegeta looks fine to me, I think he looks cool!

Jerseymilk wrote: Ya, I guess his drawing of Vegita is a little rusty-looking, but remember, he hasn't drawn them in 10 years, except for the recent kanzeban covers, and in his interview with American Shonen Jump, he remarked that that project gave him a hard time because, it had been so many years since he'd drawn them and he had practically forgotten how.
True enough. Am I the only person who thinks that the Goku on the cover of the first kanzeban volume looks...wrong in every way imaginable? The Piccolo vs Goku one also looks weird, although not as bad, and by the time we get to SS Goku, he looks fine.

And Deux Ex Machina: He does the eyes like that on the Kanzeban volumes too. Check out the pics of Vegeta (http://www.eden.rutgers.edu/%7Evegex/mu ... ban_16.jpg) and SSJ Goku (http://www.eden.rutgers.edu/%7Evegex/mu ... ban_22.jpg). Except that they're not quite like the pre-Saiyan era eyes. Those were general curves, while post Saiyan era eyes were three straight lines. These are a sort of half way house...there are three straight lines, except that the angle where they join is curved, rather than sharp.

I actually kinda like the Chibi Goku kanzenban pictures... They're not ugly, just a completely different style. A very nice style at that.

Hmm. Maybe. It's true that Chibi Goku changes design a fair bit over the original run of the series anyway (and looks completely different in GT), but the covers of the original graphic novels tended to match the artwork going on on the inside.

I guess it's just weird to see a character suddenly drawn a different way after all these years.

It's not a mistake; If you look at the covers, and his more recent works, like Sandland, you will see that it is because his artistic style has advanced and he has grown as an artist himself. This is just an extension of that, and I thought those Kanzeban covers were of high quality. Especially the Vegeta and SSJ ones. They were amazing.

What I just noticed: on the cover of the latest kanzeban (#39 I believe), Kaioshin-sama is pink and Kibito is purple... I could have sworn that Toriyama had Kaioshin purple in one of the tankobon

Yes, Kaioushin-sama was purple on the cover of Book #37. Silly Mr. Toriyama can't seem to remember his own colorings.

Oh well, at least it wasn't Piccolo he turned pink.

Yeah, of course he can remember Piccolo. We all know by now how he's always confusing his colors.

Damn, it's been so long, and still no NMZ3 on TW. Seppuku!

At least they didn't get it as bad as poor old Dodoria. You'd think he'd check some colour pages for reference. Or was Dodoria green on them, too?

Hmm, he got that one right. Oh well.

Poor Toriyama; it's been so long, what do you expect? I still must say that I respect the man for the work he did.

I don't think any less of him because of it. In fact, maybe I see things his way. Who cares? An alien is an alien, color of that species doesn't matter too much. Don't forget, color is not as much of an issue in Japan. Manga is almost never colored, while US comics seem to always be. I don't think Toriyama remembers / cares about specific coloring.

I certainly don't. I already know Dodoria is pink, and it is common that some colors will be mixed up during print.

Look at the Daizenshuu EX site. There're scanslations there and they work fine for me.
