Everything's done in Macromedia Dreamweaver MX and Adobe Photoshop 7.0. With a bit of hand-coding.

I use Photoshop Elements 2, because I'm a cheap bastard who won't pony up the $300 for an educational copy of Photoshop CS.VegettoEX wrote:Everything's done in Macromedia Dreamweaver MX and Adobe Photoshop 7.0. With a bit of hand-coding.

I did, however, succeed in getting Mike to start using the "Save for Web" feature, so that we can have decent-sized images without reducing the colors to less than 256. So, yeah.

Back in my day, we didn't have "Save For the Web" !! Eat THAT! Actually, I keep an old version of Photoshop 4.0 around for when I just want to do a raw scan, and not edit it right away. 4.0 loads up like a charm, where-as 7.0 acts like a drunken Kame-Sen'nin trying to find his porn.

THANK YOU!!! I've been trying to get him to use that feature for as long as I've known him (which I guess has been 4 years now). He'll listen to Julian, but not me... I see how it is.SaiyaJedi wrote:I did, however, succeed in getting Mike to start using the "Save for Web" feature, so that we can have decent-sized images without reducing the colors to less than 256. Back in the day, Front Page was the spawn of Satan, in terms of page design. It created horribly inefficient and redundant code, and just wouldn't let you do what you wanted to do.
I have no idea what current versions are like, since I'm so in love with Dreamweaver ^^. Most people seem to use Dreamweaver or Adobe GoLive (which is kinda like a poor man's DW; not because it's cheap, which it isn't... but because it's just a bad rip-off of DW).
Meri and I wrote tutorials for both DW and GoLive (and tons of other programs) for the Rutgers Writing Program sites... hmm... lemme find....

You can also check out the shitloads of tutorials at:
http://getit.rutgers.edu
Not only are the tutorials more in-depth, there, but the site is so damn sexy looking I can't stand it. That was our pet project last summer. Tutorials up the waaaah-zooooo!
Dunno how much help that'll be for people. It's geared towards a Rutgers student, but just replace whatever FTP info it's talking about, and you should be fine.

It is good to start with, FrontPage that is. Once you get into the actual coding and know what you are doing then it is much better that way. You have a little more freedom with how things work. Not much but I think you do.
FrontPage is a useful tool. I think Dreamweaver is better though. Basically the same in a way.. just without the Microsoft Name..
I use Dreamweaver when I feel lazy otherwise I use notepad to code.

Right now I'm playing around with Yahoo! sitebuilder 2.0.
I think I'm going to flood my computer trial offer thingies and see which is best.

If you were looking to create a website I'd def. reccomend starting with Dreamweaver and becoming familiar with it. It's a powerful application that creates clean, well-designed websites fairly eaisly. As for graphics, Photoshop and Paintshop Pro are the programs that I've always used and had no problems with.
