Zimbabwe seems pretty cool, though... :<SonEric84 wrote:At least it's coming from a seller in Japan, I mean, I'm not saying that makes it a 100% chance of being legit...but I'd be more worried if it were from the U.S., Hong Kong, or you know...Zimbabwe.
Well, the signature itself matches, and the style of the drawing doesn't really look THAT off to me. Perhaps it was an older sketch, drawn before Toriyama started changing his style to what he's using currently? I wouldn't be surprised...
Also, just thought I'd point this out: an artist may have a certain style of drawing to which he usually adheres, but any good one is well capable of drawing differently from his trademark style. Not only that, the way one sketches something quickly often looks different from the way one draws something deliberately (even if just a little more so). If it's just a sketch made to go along with the signature, you can't expect him to have taken very long with it and for it to look exactly the same as his usual style. And one sketch will be different from the next--they can't all look alike, right? It looks familiar enough to be something he might have drawn, so that's the important part.
Anyways. This is a cool find, SonEric. I know I won't be trying to get it, though. $450... I don't have that kind of money. D: (If I did, I'd be more likely to use it towards getting the DB DragonBox, anyway. That's way too much to ask for a signature and one drawing when I could use that money to get a TON of drawings instead. 8D; )
Art, etc. links taken down for now. Will be updated at some point. I dunno.
I NEED A NEW SIGNATURE D:

If I had the money, I'd probably be going for a Dragon Box or at least some of the singles myself. The only way I'd ever really go for a signature is if I could have Toriyama sign something for me in person. I just thought it was neat.
Trans rights, now!
I've gotten sketches from artists before that look totally different from their full art style. This was probably just for a fan done at a convention or something.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Speculation aside, at that much money, I'd need some serious certification before even considering this. Not only that, but signatures are really only good as ornaments or show-off items (if you don't intend to auction it off like this seller is doing). At least with the Dragon Boxes, Daizenshuu, etc. there is actual content there that you can get continued enjoyment out of. Cool as this is if it's real, it's just doesn't seem that practical to me.
