Only the first seven were hard covers. Three others came out, two TV guides and a card guide or something, but they were paperback.dasmith wrote:Question: Are all of the Daizenshuu hard cover, or were they also sold as paperbacks later? (Sorry, I'm a newb to the daizenshuu)

I don't really remember the specifics. I remember something about checking out the copyright pages, and seeing if the spines have Shueisha printed on the sides. I have heard that bootleggers don't generally copy the original company's logo onto their bootlegs, because they can get in much more trouble for that. I'm not sure if that is true or not, but Shueisha is printed on all of my books.SSJToreto wrote:What are the signs?Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:I bought one of that guys sets recently. I read about what to look out for in bootleg Daizenshuu in previous topics, and the set checked out. None of the signs were present. Plus, two of the books were from a Japanese used bookstore, apparently. They were wrapped and had a slip from the bookstore showing the price he paid for them and everything.
Oh, and while they were in really great shape for twelve year old books, they were still quite obviousy used. Wouldn't a bootleg look new? So, yeah, if you have the money for one of his sets and the shipping, I'd say you should buy one. His feedback is nearly 100% positive and I could find no comments claiming that his items seemed bootleg. Are the Daizenshuu's in the first post legit?
Still, I think it would be a great edition to my collection, and I could glare at the picture's to no endTyro wrote:If you can't read Japanese they're not really worth your time, as you're not going to further your knowledge of all that is Dragonball if you can't read that which will be teaching. If you can, heck yeah, pick these up nao.
Or you can get #1 and call it a day. It's just pictures, mostly.
Ah, yeah, I was just talking about 1-7. They were only ever released as hard covers?Tyro wrote:Only the first seven were hard covers. Just be grateful they aren't as limited as some other books. The Phantasy Star Compendium, for instance. It's nearly impossible to find domestically, and when you do find it, it fetches quite a price.
Still, congrats to whoever won. I thought, for a split second, about buying them as a second set...but then I realized that was nuts ;p
