Fair and diversified in terms of fanbase appeasal, I meant. Goku fans are literally having their cake and eating it too while fans of other characters don't even have their fave in the roster.

To be fair, Gokus and Vegetas aside, the roster is tremendously solid. All the major good guys and bad guys are in, with a couple of noticeable exclusions. I just think it could be even better with 5-6 characters more like Roshi, Zarbon, Gero, Janemba, Dabura and Super Buu. Maybe even #19.

Here's hoping half of them will be in the 2nd DLC pack - instead of getting 6 more Saiyans.

We all know that UI Goku is coming, possibly even Kid Goku, and there is a chance of seeing SSJ3 Goku and SSJ4 Goku - I'm pulling estimations out of my ass, granted, but if it happens it will be insane.

The Goku's and Vegeta's have the problem of sharing some normals and special attacks. All Vegeta's have the same special kick for example... This doesn't mean their playstyle will be the same but they aren't equal to all other characters, they are less unique than everybody else.

Is there anywhere I can read accurate translations of the synch conversations and character interaction cut scenes? Wanna know what Piccolo originally says to Yamcha amongst other things.

Nickolaidas wrote:Also, it's pretty sad to see this roster of Gokus and Vegetas WHEN THE DEVS THEMSELVES told us on E3 2017 not to expect variations of the same characters and then doing the exact opposite with the two main characters.
They didn't say that. Here's a post of mine from last year disputing that:
Many fans have said that's what they said, but at best what they said is that it would be kept to a minimum:
PG: Other Dragon Ball games have featured multiple versions of characters (for example, Teen Gohan, Adult Gohan and Great Saiyaman). Is it possible we may see multiple versions of characters in this game?

TH: When developing this game, we are focusing on making the fighting characteristics of each character really stand out and deliver a variety of gameplay. With that said, we don’t intend to include too many characters who fight alike.
KS: Will we see multiple versions of playable characters such as different forms of Goku for example?

TH: We can’t go into detail, all we can say right now is look forward to future announcements, and we choose which characters make it in depending on what they can add to the game in a unique way, so look forward to that.
But the more straightforward interpretation is that she's saying Kid Goku, SSB Goku, SSJ Goku and SSJ4 Goku can all be in the game as long as they play differently from each other.
To be honest, it might have been better to just have 6 DLC characters (omitting Base Goku and Vegeta) in order not to receive negative criticism over the roster selection.
Is there any possibility in your mind that you're wrong about the overall percentage of people actually upset about this?

I personally think its a dumb choice and wont buy the DLC. No amount of "facts" can change that opinion.
You're the one acting like these arguments are a personal attack on your opinion. No one's trying to convince people who simply don't like their inclusion. Some of those people are saying some highly questionable things on top of that simple opinion, though, like SS Goku and SSB Goku playing the same because they both have a Kamehameha, or "we should have had x character instead".

The trailers seem to have turned a few heads, but I definitely see 'lazy f&%ks' comments on Bamco's YouTube channel. I admit however, that the majority of the comments is ok with their inclusion (although many shake their heads at their inclusion as DLC).

Also, thanks for digging up the direct quotes in the interviews (I was searching for them myself a few hours back but came up with nothing). Still think it's a subtle play with words on Bamco's part but, whatever. It is what it is.

But I stand firm in the fact that since Bamco responded with the 'many Gokus' criticism, it proves there was a noticeable amount of it (they wouldn't respond otherwise).

I would like that as well, I mean what's the need of subs if they translate erronly to the dub dialogue?

Except I’m not. I just find it silly that people think it’s “questionable” to say they want a new character over a 3rd Goku and Vegeta

It's questionable because it doesn't acknowledge reality. It's questionable that you've read everything said against why the choice was never "Janemba or a 3rd Goku" and yet you still frame it that way. Baffling, one might say.

I like their movesets, and in concept they seem fine. Thing is I feel if they wanted to do this, they should have waited for a second season of DLC rather than throw it out in the first group of 8. We have something of a saturation of Goku and Vegeta, even if you exclude Black (and i dont count Bardock in this either).

Frankly I hope we get more character diversity next time through if we get it.

I understand the choice was never Janemba or a 3rd Goku. That doesn’t mean I have to like or agree with it in the slightest.

The logic of "It's okay to have a third Goku/Vegeta because they will play different" is crap. Following that logic it's okay to have kid Goku, SSG Goku, Ultra Instinct Goku, Majin Vegeta, SSB Evolution Vegeta, GT SSJ Goku, GT SSJ Vegeta, SSJ4 Goku, SSJ4 Vegeta... as long as they play different. It isn't.

This franchise has a lot of characters. They can add other characters that are actually new and still play different from the rest.

"But new characters take more effort to make".
Doesn't matter. That's their problem. We, consumers, don't have to worry about the staff hardships. They did Broly, Bardock, Merged Zamasu, SSB Vegetto, and if the datamine is correct they are doing Coola and DBS C17 too. No matter how people look at it, there's no excuse for another Goku/Vegeta. Any argument in favour to this can be shot down right away.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Don't like it, don't buy, simple as that. That's the point of paid DLC isn't it? Some people wanted a Saiyan Saga essentials set (including me), and this does it fine.

It's not that simple, dear. How about the people that already bought the season pass because they were told it would have 8 DLC characters, and by logic they thought that it would actually be 8 new characters, and not 6 new characters + a third Goku and Vegeta? A refund perhaps?! We know they won't do that.

Fans should have waited before everyone was announced?! Well, they could.
Does that still make this DLC pack a good decision?! No, it doesn't.
Are we, as consumers, allowed to show our insatisfaction?! Yes, we are. Always.

It's not just "Don't like it, don't buy", because nothing tells me they won't keep doing this in the future and get away with it.

It's your own fault for paying money without knowing completely what for. There were people who asked for/wanted it, so it does make for a good decision, your wants/needs are not superior over others'.

I dont disagree these characters have a place, but I think the priorities are screwed up if they are adding this many so quickly.

I'd rather see other characters:

Raditz
Dabura
Janemba
Slug
Roshi
Jiren
Cabba
Gero with 19

And also, I am dreading getting a second Broly after this movie

I can't believe there are people who are okay with paying for weaker versions of the same damn character. Don't yall feel robbed?

This shit reminds me of the SFxT situation for some reason. They could've just done the major Z cast (plus Hit and Black) and then do the special movie and Super characters as DLC.

So why didn't they put them in the base game instead of putting them as paid DLC?

Because we're in the "Super" era, older things (classics) are becoming "optional", just like other early DB stuff (if that ever happens)

This isn't Budokai 3 where one character's separate incarnation has a higher baseline-ki than the other, inherently making the lower-form one worthless.

There are three characters named Goku, and they're all the character Goku, but they are not identical characters to play as. I'm not sure how many times this can be described. There's definitely a mental hurdle that's not being sufficiently explained/met/overcome here.

Would I personally have preferred to see a character that is not named Goku become available to play as this round of DLC?

Yes.

Am I fundamentally more interested in the underlying gameplay of a character than I am their external apperance and based on what I see with this Goku am I interested in playing as him?

Yes.

Is it OK if you feel differently so long as you understand these underlying traditional fighting game concepts?

Yes.

(Does FighterZ still desperately need some balance adjustments and thankfully does it seem like we might be getting some soon even though it's far too late for them to be doing that in earnest?)

(Yes.)

Bull! The base forms ARE part of the Super era. Both of them fought without transforming in some episodes. Hell, I'd rather pay for SSJ4 Goku over base. At least it's a form that hasn't been in much games lately unlike the base forms which have been in MOST DB GAMES FOR FUCKING FREE!

Look at the trailer. They're specifically from the early Z era wearing their Saiyan Saga clothes and using their pre Super Saiyan era moves. And as I said, don't want, don't buy.
