You know, that must be cool. He can go grab some popcorn, some soda, and sit down in front of the TV watching the enter DB/Z series from start to finish ever couple of months or so, and it'd be like seeing it for the very first time! :D

In his defense, if I had to create about fifteen pages of manga week in and week out for about a decade, I might lose my mind, too. He probably didn't sleep much in that time. Remember he was forced to make stuff up as he went along, so while everything before the Buu saga doesn't cause too much debate over its utter anti-logic, the Buu saga is what really says "I'm gonna' finally finish this f***ing comic, and after I get m' merchandising royalties, I'M NEVER GOING TO WORK AGAIN." That's kind of what makes the Buu saga fun, though: it's like a great big Dragonball blow-out finale with (almost) everything DB fans (might) love: further character development of Vegeta and Gohan, new Saiyan transformations (though I think SSJ3 sucks, and Goku tries his best to ruin the whole Buu saga), new villian with zany transformations, more Satan, new Saiyans, more of Vegeta's zany hijinks, Gohan's finally cool again (as brief as it is), and none of this is hindered by even the smallest trace of logic.

This doesn't make Dragonball any lesser of a manga. It's sort of like David Lynch and "Twin Peaks." Both were made up as the creators went along and sometimes invoke a sense of "what's going on, here?," but still ended up praised, popular, and f'ed-up enough to offer all sorts of material for fan arguments until the end of all time and space. However, a dream sequence with a backwards-talking Krillin is in order for us to tie the two together enough to satisfy me.

And I guess I'm the only Dragonball fan who doesn't like Oda that much. Oh, well. I'm also probably the only Dragonball fan who would prefer something like "Berserk" over "One Piece." I'm not really sure if that's something to be proud of, though.

And that's my argument for Toriyama.

He wasn't forced too, that's just the way he worked. The editors might have pushed him towards certain things, but there was nothing stopping him from having a grand plan. And at certain times, he certainly seems to have a better idea of where the story is heading than others. For instance, I bet he knew that Gohan would defeat Cell probably from the moment him and Goku went into the Room of Time And Spirit.

Well, he did admit that he was more or less forced to make Perfect Cell come out. But it`s not like they chained him to his desk.

Also, who exactly is arguing that when he forgets his own work it is a bad thing? I totally respect him. It shows he isn`t caught up in his own crap. It also makes a great case for fanboys saying "Toriyama would....and Toriyama thinks...", because the truth is, he doesn`t even know. And let us not forget, some of it may be a cultural matter with feigned humbleness. I wouldn`t doubt that, particularly his comment about Tao Pai Pai with Oda.

BTW, off-topic but I think our 8th nakama made their appearance this week in JUMP.

Let's see, I've forgotten about Vegeta before... I've forgotten about some of my original chracters... in one fic I forgot Piccolo was supposed to be dead... Um, I-uh, Um, forgot about Goku once  , I mean, I'd forgotten he was already on the planet kind of thing. There's others, but to try and save some of my pride, I'll shut up now.

Yes, but...you didn't creat the characters, nor did you write about them every week for over a decade.

Yeah, trying to remember all of the characters you created nearly 20 years ago is impossible. Considering DB's vast ammount of characters, its no wonder Toriyama forgot a few. I just still cant get over him forgetting Lunch. She was a major, well about as major as Bulma, character for a long ass time.
