Do we even know if those're "remastered/wide-screen"? From what godofchaos said, they're simply thin-pack re-releases.SSJ Helldog wrote:So when is the DB Movie 3-pack coming out anyway? I haven't seen anything for it at all, except for murmurs of it on these forums. All I found on Amazon was the listing for the old release.

OH! If you're going to Katsucon in Washington DC this coming weekend, we're going to show the Bardock and Trunks TV specials on Saturday morning at 7am, followed by The Doomrider Project at about 8:45. And despite what the program book may say, I'm going to show it in English with the restored Japanese BGM. (It helps that I'm the associate director of Video Programming at Katsucon.)
So, for all you Katsu attendees, if you're still up at that time, or if you're waking up early, it's a good time to discover how the remastered TV specials are going to look before you buy. Please come on down and check it out!

We'll find out. It would be nice.Magica wrote: So with Solid State Scouter being in, does that mean that Hikari no Tabi is in as well?
I've grown quite fond of "Hikari no Tabi" lately. I think it might rank up there with Journey's "Open Arms" as far as things to have in the background while making out
(If you read the English translation of the lyrics you'd understand. And it's a damn pretty song in Japanese.)

I just got this tin box yesterday, I love this thing. As somebody said before Cha-la is actually in the Bardock special, but not the Trunks movie. But besides that, these sets are great. This was also my first time seeing the Bardock special in English, "the way it was meant to be" heard.
Somebody said that the ending credits were screwed up, I have no idea what they are talking about. The ending credits look fine to me. Other then that, this set "rocks the dragon."

So FUNi was smart enough to not crop the upper-left corner of the credits where the clip shows play at the end of both specials? That's a relief. Glad to know I can listen to the ending songs without seeing characters with no heads.ultimateemail5000 wrote:Somebody said that the ending credits were screwed up, I have no idea what they are talking about. Speaking of the Japanese ending songs, they're in the English-with-Japanese-music tracks, right? With FUNimation not being able to include some of the vocal songs for whatever reason, I was a little worried about those. Just looking for confirmation that they made it in alright.

I loved these two specials. Definitely an amazing addition to DBZ. Thing is though...it's a shame that they will get ruined with the whole, "lets make it the way it was meant to be seen" thing they're shooting for. I'm definitely getting them, as I don't have them (hard to find, hard to find). I just wish FUNimation was like...smart. Even if it cost twice as much for this speciala, I would appreciate some consideration. I mean couldn't they make it a double-sided disk? You know, put the "Remastered" cut up version on one side, and the original on the other? For this release, I'd pay twice what it's worth if they had that.

Yeah the video in the corner of the screen is there. It might be cropped a bit, I dont know. It's ending credits of recycled animation I've seen before so I didnt really pay much attention.MagicBox wrote:So FUNi was smart enough to not crop the upper-left corner of the credits where the clip shows play at the end of both specials? Onto the Japanese ending songs. Yes all the Japanese ending songs are intact including the intro song Cha-la, except in the Trunks special Cha-la, is replaced with the generic English guitar solo. Other then that, everythings there.

I'll actually be there, but not until Saturday afternoon. Too bad, I'm interested to see how these ended up.Brakus wrote:So, for all you Katsu attendees, if you're still up at that time, or if you're waking up early, it's a good time to discover how the remastered TV specials are going to look before you buy. I plan on getting both. Damn you Funimation!Levlik wrote:Just took a look at the Best Buy ad in the paper today and they're having a sale. If you get both Season 4 and the TV Special set, it'll only cost $45, knocking roughly $15 off the deal. Just wanted to let that be known incase anyone else was planning on getting both.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.
I got the Trunks/Bardock set in the mail yesterday. (Managed to get it on ebay new for about 15 bucks.) I have to say it's looking a lot better than the season sets. The intro mistake on the Trunks special is lame, but it's cool that if you just press play it automatically has the dub with Japanese music. Personally, I wish they would have done some redubbing, because most of the voices in the Bardock special are downright terrible, it almost hurts my ears to listen to Bardock's crew ("Tora" was the only decent one.) The picture is pretty decent, but the widescreen is still obnoxious. I'd rather have this than Funimation's original release though.
Trans rights, now!
My Best Buy is already selling the DB-Movie pack, but they aren't selling Season 4 yet.

Not to mention that the dialogue sounds like it was written by someone who didn't even understand japanese. Seriously, the dub directly contradicts the japanese version at least one time. (Dub: This kid will grow up to be a great warrior someday! Sub: He sucks. Let's send him to a planet filled with wimps.)SonEric84 wrote:Personally, I wish they would have done some redubbing, because most of the voices in the Bardock special are downright terrible, it almost hurts my ears to listen to Bardock's crew ("Tora" was the only decent one.)
