The side bars thing probably won't last when every station goes to HD. TBS already automatically stretches out their stuff which makes me angry. And most stations are not like that, most are full screen. Obviously it depends on what they show at the time.

I mean I hope I'm wrong, but I just think that this option of having the side bars is just temporary while everyone still has tons of 4:3 content. I think in 5 years, that will be out the window. Again, I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but that's just the way it seems to be heading. I didn't even think about it till I was watching TBS in HD and it was automatically stretched even with my settings set to Normal (I hate the Stretch setting, and I use the Zoom when the image is meant to be widescreen).

If you switch thruogh the channels on HDMI, you'll notice that almost all channels are in wide-sreen. And no 1080p channel is 4:3.

Yeah that's what I said. Which is why I fear that a little while after every channel switches over to HD, that 4:3 will automatically either be cropped or stretched. Between those two choices, I'd rather have cropped than stretched.

I have a question, not about DBZ actually. When you get a Widescreen DVD and they have a Full Screen version, is it that the Widescreen is done the way FUNimation is doing DBZ (vertical cropped), or the Full Screen has the sides cropped? I ask because I only buy Widescreen DVDs when there's an option.
