Not really. That's what I orginally thought; but, when I read DB Vol 14, 15, and 16; he didn't talk like that at all. For some reason, they just wanted Piccolo to imitate Yoda for his first appearance with Raditz. He got better as the chapters progressed, though.

The coverart doesn't look that great for the DBZ one, but the quality of the book is actually far superior if the RK one is anything to go by.

Meh, the cover art is just ok. I'll still pick it up, if only for the better quality paper and the fact that I don't have all of the original release.

Uncensored Dragonball material in America? I wish......
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Huh, looks like they're going for a more retro look for these simple, plain covers. Though I could be completely wrong and Viz is just using some random stock pictures as the covers. I'm hoping the covers are at least relative to the volumes they cover. It would seem really stupid if they were to have something like Goku wearing a Buu Saga gi during a Freeza Saga volume :?.

Like everyone else, I'm just hoping they're non-edited with all the color chapters um... colored (or in the case of some of them, red/gray-scaled). While I've already got all 42 of the Viz volumes, I'd like to at least pick up the Viz Big volume with SSJ2 Gohan if only for the colored chapters :D.

The covers for the first two Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z VIZBIG volumes are images 22 and 128 from Daizenshuu 1. Image 23 (Dragon Ball cover) was originally drawn by Toriyama as a cover for an issue of Weekly Jump in 1986. Image 128 (DBZ cover) was originally drawns as the cover of the 1989 Jump Calendar.

I'm disappointed with the cover art.

For such a big release, it really is pitiful.

But as long as these have colour chapters, and are unedited, I shall pick them up gladly.

With talk about covers, aren't what's on the inside of the GNs more important than the covers?

Yeah, but so far the covers are the only things we have pictures of, so it's natural that discussion would focus on them.

Well, I found them on Viz's official site. They're probably the final cover artwork. :?

I really can't believe they pay people for this kind of thing.

The hard work is already done!, Toriyama is an amazing artist, all you have to do is come up with a suitable layout, some appropriate typography, and a nice colour scheme.

But no, the intern with mspaint and a magazine with some Dragonball pictures he can cut out is definitely the way to go.

Atleast it's still original artwork done by Mr.Toriyama himself I guess.

I'm pretty sure everybody was hoping for that, *sigh  . I wonder if it's because it would be really costly to use those pictures? :?

They use those images in Shonen Jump from time to time so, I don't know.

I'm interested in how they're going to keep this up for fourteen volumes. Then there's the image on the spine to be considered as well.

I'd also like to note that there appears to be something in the background of Z volume one. It looks sort of like speed-lines.
