Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
Yeah well it didn't gross high enough to score in the Top 25 worldwide the past weekend so we haven't got an updated total this time.
In addition to the above, it looks like it's sold 481,190 tickets in France. Had a 79% weekend drop so it's not going to hit that forecast figure again but that should be enough for around $3.81 million in the country.
This may not be the final figure so I'll have to say in a couple days.
In the French speaking Switzerland it was only on 15 screens but was #4 and sold 2,683 tickets. Not sure how much that's going to be but it won't be a lot. If it was anything like France it'd only be $21,000.
It comes out in India in 4 days time.

From Anime Japan 2019

That's nothing new but at least it confirms that the movie has made more than 12.5 billion yen so far.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
That's another good find. So they say it topped ¥12.5 billion which would be $113.5 million and that article was published on the 24th.
The same date when Comscore said it had made $116.5 million which would be ¥12.8 billion. Obviously the sign wouldn't have been made on the 24th as well but that all does fit.
On Box Office Mojo they now have France at $3.87 million. So it made over $1.1 million more in the past week. It's sold 491,000 tickets there.
The movie should be at least at $117.7 million worldwide then but with Belgium, Switzerland and the other markets it's probably around $118 million.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
Broly has been confirmed canceled in Scandinavia. I chat with Impact, the licensor today.
Hello, unfortunately Scandinavia have been blindsided again. After several attempts to get the details we still have no clear answers. Broly was to be out biggest output yet with several cinemas and screening lined up.
...now after 6 month of chasing this. We have decided to stop running after it as well as not to work with Toei properties again.
We will make an official apologize later next week for not been able to take this home.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
IMDb has added India on their list so there is a high chance of Box Office Mojo (an IMDb company) reporting how much money the movie will make there.
Spoiler:
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
India's box office?
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
I heard anime isn't popular India so you're probably right.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
The movie is up to $148,000 in Portugal.
In France they're saying it's sold 529,412 tickets, I think that's an estimate and as of tomorrow, it's confusing I'm not too sure. As it stands though that should be around $4.1 - 4.2 million.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
Considering the TV ratings for Portugal that's really low.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
It's actually not, 25000 people for a market that is ridiculously small in Portugal is not low, also the portuguese distributor was afraid the movie would flop so they invested close to nothing regarding marketing for the movi since the movie is already making a lot of profit.

It's coming to China:

I can't find the source for the poster in the first link. Also, I don't know if the two links are connected or if they are two different things. Eitherway, the movie is really coming out in China!

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
That's good news, that'll be the movies last bit of a surge then seeing as they unfortunately cancelled the Nordic countries.
If it can perform well enough then it should put it on the Comscore Rankings which seems to be the only way to get an accurate Worldwide figure now.
Resurrection F didn't do all that well and only made $1.67 million but I hope that's just because it took forever to release there. The My Hero Academia movie just made $5.7 million and I wouldn't have thought that would be as popular.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
The France Box Office is up to $4.423 million now as of last Sunday. Not sure if we'll hear anything else as it's not forecast to be on the charts anymore but there might be. Never heard anything of India except someone told me that maybe it could do around $150,000.
At the moment the reported figures all add to a minimum of $118.1 million worldwide.
Theres only China left so I may as well take the time to list the Top 15 markets for this movie for the future reference.
1. Japan - $35.5 million (As of the point it was at ¥3.9 billion)
2. United States - $30.71 million
3. Mexico - $10.45 million
4. Brazil - $4.36 million
5. Peru - $4.26 million
6. France - $4.23 million (Will likely move up a position or two)
7. Chile - $3.35 million (Is what was reported but is really more likely $3.6-3.8 million+)
8. Argentina - $3.28 million
9. Colombia - $2.91 million
10. Italy - $2.75 million
11. Ecuador - $1.96 million
12. Spain - $1.82 million
13. Central America - $1.46 million (This was just the opening)
14. Australia - $1.45 million
15. United Kingdom - $1.31 million
So yeah that's pretty much it, it'll release in China whenever and this will probably finish around $120-125 million. A huge success.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
When it first opened back in December some didn't think it could reach RF's numbers but now it has nearly doubled them. I wonder how this will impact the franchise moving forward.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
But not in Japan, which should be main market.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
Money worldwide is just as green. One of the goals of the dragon room is to understand the non-Japanese markets so with this being as big as it is, I think they have an idea about what's popular outside Japan.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
For a lot of anime that may be true because what the International market brings in is just a small amount and doesn’t make a difference in the larger scheme of things.
For Dragon Ball that is not the case at all. Do you really think they care where they made more money as long as they make the money?
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
So is China the only market left for this movie to release?
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
It seems like it. Nothing else is listed on the release dates thread anyway.
It's pretty much opened in every major market it's going to open in now that it's been cancelled in those other European countries supposedly.
