Future Dragon Ball related properties by FUNimation

I am of course talking about both series of Dr. Slump, since they dubbed the characters for Dragon Ball, why not do the whole thing? Think they'll ever get to it? I wouldn't mind getting season sets of Dr. Slump from the States.

I should have put a more clearer title, since Dr. Slump came first.

I've always found it interesting that no company has ever dubbed Dr. Slump here in North America (I believe Harmony Gold had the rights for a time but never did anything with them).

The reason it hasn't ever been dubbed here is probably because of the nature of the show itself; it wouldn't do tremendously well over here, so it's likely that none of the companies feel it's worth their time.

Will it happen someday, though? Maybe, and it probably would be FUNimation. I guess we'll see what happens.

Reason it hasn't been is also because it's old. Same thing with that Rose of Versaille show. Though I still think a dub with Laura Baily or Luci Christian as Arale would rock.

Yeah, I can't see Dr. Slump doing well in the US. The humor's not only foreign and juvenile, but dated as well. Don't get me wrong; I enjoyed the manga, but I don't see it as financially successful. If it did come out, I'd expect it to be direct-to-video, with a huge sticker proclaiming "From the Creator of Dragon Ball Z!!"

I refuse to see my Dr.Slump turned into that.However that's probably just because I have an emotional attachment to the original, I didn’t mind when they did it to ShinChan at all.

The sad thing is that it would probably sell good at first if they slapped a "From the Creator of Dragon Ball Z!" on it. The bad part is that a lot of kids in general would be pissed that it has nothing to do with Dragon Ball and lacks the action of Dragon Ball. I mean I don't even know if I could sit through it now that it is so outdated. DB is old in appearance but the overall content isn't really dated. Every few years we get another FUNimation special ultimate even more uncut than the uncut edition anyway, that it's new to 10 year olds all the time!

I love my old, vintage anime (but that's probably because I'm a fan the old fashioned way of animation. Not big on the whole digital thing). Hell I wouldn't mind seeing Kinnikuman come to the states either, but that's probably way far off.

Same here, I'd watch any of it, no matter how bad the animation, I get edits too, like Robotech, love that.

I'm gonna end up getting the 3 boxes of it soon, they look very nice anyway.

Didn't stop shows like Azumanga Daioh or Lucky Star from being licensed. All they have to do is either rewrite the dialogue to make the cultural-references more understandable, or add some translator's notes, either in the subtitles or add a booklet with them.

If Dr. Slump were given the same treatment as Bo-Bobo (dubbing-wise, at least), I think it would do pretty well.

That's why I was a little reluctant to get the Azumanga thinpack. It doesn't have said liner notes that the individual releases did.

That's why I was a little reluctant to get the Azumanga thinpack. It doesn't have said liner notes that the individual releases did.

They could just do a TV Edit for Toonami and keep it uncut on the DVDs like they always do though.

Oh man thank God I lived in Mexico, it was a well success, they showed it all of it in one year in 1993. Then there was reruns and it's still good. Maybe it's because Mexico actually dubbed it early and it was success, I loved it though I don't remember any of it.
