They left them on the moutains to die. Every newborn was brought to the elders by the father to be judged as worthy or not to be reared. It was the fate of infants that were found to be "defective" or "weak". Sort of a systematic method of "survival of the fittest".

I HATE android 19, oh my god how I hate... that thing. I have no idea how he sounds in japanese, but the Funimation voice is SOOO annoying. I don't believe how much it ticks me off just to hear. Give me Ocean Dub 19 anytime :o

Actually I really like #19's FUNI voice. I hate that they took out the "android" effect in his voice in the remasters though

Odd enough to say that I find 19 to be a cool character, however I'm mostly a fan of his design. There aren't many chunky characters in Dragon Ball who fight in vests and dress shoes.

I've concidered Cosplaying as him, gotta love that style. But I'd rather go for the similar dressed Dr. Gero really, the beard, hat and long grey hair are what sold me.
But if someone was gonna go as Dr. gero with me, I'd be #19.

His Japanese voice is so smooth to me, the English one was just too much of a joke, made me glad to be rid of him in the end.

Pu'ah's voice is too damn squeaky, I want to punch him, cute in Japanese, ear pounding in English, like White noise!

My god I'm glad someone said it; I have to say that is by far the WORST voice in the dub. It literally hurts my ears to listen to him...her...it speak.

'S better than that strange accent he/she (which is Puar again?) had in the Ocean dub.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Puar is male. Though the Ocean dub made him female. The Funimation dub, didn't refer to his gender at all.

I'm surprised that nobody mentioned the narrator. I can't help but laugh every time this ass screams "Dragonnnnnn Ballllll Zeeeeeee!!". It's fucking hilarious.

And embarrassing.

I know what you mean, though for me its just embarresing, I could never laugh at that.
I don't even call the show Dragon Ball ZEEEEE, but I'm still sick of people around me saying it wrong. Though Jouji Yanami's old man naration wouldn't fit the later series, he still has a remarkable and recognisable voice, way way better than Herbert. rather than doing a clear narration he just had to make a character voice out of it, make it RAD for all the lil kids watching.

I learned something new today.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

It is hilarious, but I wish Dale Kelly had stayed on to voice other characters. I love his Captain Ginyu!

There's nothing "wrong" about pronouncing the letter Z that way. Pretty much every language uses its own derivation of the original Latin pronunciation, zeta, so there is no single "correct" way to pronounce the letter's name.

...Unless you go around saying zetto like the Japanese do, but even then, Japan certainly didn't invent the Roman alphabet; they just use their own pronunciation of the letter like every other country instinctively does.

It's Zed in England and because of the English DBZ everyone says it wrong. :?

Please refrain from making these types of posts. Thank you.

I think what you more accurately mean is that despite your own local pronunciation of the letter "Z" being zed, the local fandom has adopted the American zee pronunciation. This isn't "wrong" by any stretch of the imagination. I'm not "wrong" for spelling "dialogue" like so; I'm simply spelling it an alternate way, just like they're saying the letter in a different way.

Hell, I've seen tons of Japanese commercials with a narrator and the zed pronunciation, followed immediately by another one with Masako Nozawa and the zetto pronunciation. If the original country won't decide on a pronunciation, you don't have too much to complain about :).

Yea, I agree with Rach. But I never expected somebody to pronounce it "Zeeeeeeee", except for the narrator for American action show effect.

90% of the dub cast.

Kidding. I can tolerate most of the main characters (Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo etc.) but villians make me feel sick. Also, scenes that are done amazingly in Japanese, when being viewed in English, well, they just get me angry.
