Is this going to be a limited release? I'm interested, but would rather wait a bit to buy it ;p

Summation

Post by klokwerk » Tue Feb 26, 2008 6:34 am

Okay, so out of curiosity I went through and compared the tracklisting to the Hit Song Collection tracklists. Here's the resulting knowledge:

The majority of the collection is comprised of the Hit Song Collection CDs in their original order (both CD number and track order on each disc). However, some stuff has been left out. Rather than clutter this post I'll just say that anything by MONOLITH is not found in the set. That amounts to 30 tracks. In addition "Takkaraputo Popporunga Pupiritto Paro" by heavy duty, is not included either. Obviously the opening and ending themes aren't duplicated over and over.

I also noticed two other mistakes/errors in the track titles:
* "Massage from the future" (supposed to be 'message')
* "This in life" (supposed to be 'is')

Now, on top of the Hit Song Collection CDs 1 through 18 (plus the two special remix discs), the following content is included:
* A batch of Hironobu Kageyama tracks (unsure about original CD sources – they start on disc 9 with track 5 and end with track 7 on disc 10)
* Dragon Ball Z Best Remix 2006 1/2 Special Maxi-CD (in its entirety)
* Karaoke versions of the two openings and two closings of Dragon Ball Z
* Live versions of Hironobu Kageyama's songs (from the "Power Live '95" CD according to podcast #117)
* 'Engrish' versions of the both openings and the 2nd closing

To recap: I'm so glad I held off on buying the Hit Song Collection reissues. I'll pre-order this along with the Burst Limit theme CD single. Perhaps I'll get the BGM box as well. If anyone can check if there's any material on the Complete Song Collections not available here, that'd be great. Would there be any other CDs with overlap on this CD? Legend of Dragon World, perhaps?

Alright, I know that I just regurgitated a lot of information. I hope I helped by lumping it all into one post though.

No Monolith tracks? That's kind of depressing...

I hope for my sake that these are TRUE karaoke versions of the OP/EDs of DBZ, or at least not a non-vocal version with the synth doubling the main vocal melody. To my knowledge, Cha-La Head-Cha-La never had a true full-length karaoke version released to the general public. (A TV-size karaoke version exists, though, but if I want to sing the song, I want the whole thing.)

Zenkai Power original karaoke never has existed either, not even in tv size. Also not even the instrumental version ( you know that annoying leading melody that you wish you can take off so you can hear the real instrumentals).

Columbia changed the release date for the CD Box. Now it's going to come out on April 2.

Are there any pictures of what this set looks like? It's a month away from release and still no images. If I'm going to drop £90 on this, I'd actually like to see what it looks like.

Can someone bust out a track list comparison here? I'm curious to see if this is worth upgrading to from the Complete Song Collection releases. Also, is this a limited release? I'd like to pick it up, but not until later this year.

The fact that they're not including the instrumental pieces that Monolith did, has already changed my mind about buying this. I'll stick with my Hit Collections and Complete Collections thanks.

The first ten CDs and most of the eleventh CD contain all of the songs that are on the Complete Song Collection CDs. The order of the songs is a little different, but all of the songs are there. The only songs that aren't from the Complete Song Collections are:

Disc 11:
(From "Dragon Ball Z Best Remix 2006 1/2 Special"):
10. CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA
11. Detekoi Tobikiri ZENKAI Pawaa!
12. Eien no Chikyuu

Disc 12:
(From "Dragon Ball Z Best Remix 2006 1/2 Special"):
1. Ikusa
2. Hikari no Tabi
3. White & World & True・・・Shiro to Sekai to Kokoro
4. Hero (Kimi ga Hiiroo)
5. Ougon no Kompasu
6. Cool Cool Dandi
7. Baaningu Faito-Nessen Ressen Chou-Gekisen-
8. Mazaa Yunibaasu
9. WE GOTTA POWER
10. Boku-tachi wa Tenshi Datta
11. Kimi no Sora e
(Original Karaoke):
12. CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA
13. Detekoi Tobikiri ZENKAI Pawaa!
14. WE GOTTA POWER
15. Boku-tachi wa Tenshi Datta

Disc 13:
(Live Version):
1. Baaningu Faito-Nessen Ressen Chou-Gekisen-
2. Saikyou no Fusion
3. Aoi Kaze no HOPE
4. Aitsu wa Son Gokuu
5. Toki to Hikari no Naka de
6. Hikari no Tabi
7. Doragon Paawaa Mugendai
8. CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA
9. Boku-tachi wa Tenshi Datta
10. WE GOTTA POWER
11. Marugoto
(English Version):
12. CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA
13. WE GOTTA POWER
14. Boku-tachi wa Tenshi Datta

I haven't seen anybody mention that this is a limited release, so I don't think it is, but I could be wrong.

Columbia finally added a picture of what this set looks like. The picture is small, though, so you're going to have to strain your eyes to see it.

If I had some extra cash, I'd be interested in picking up this set.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I doubt it will be tomorrow, but mine shipped yesterday, so I expect it in the next 5-7 days.
