Dragon Ball Z CD-Box

Post by Futabatei Shimei » Mon Jan 28, 2008 10:53 pm

According to Neowing, there's going to be a Dragon Ball Z CD-Box coming out on March 26, 2008. It's going to contain all of Dragon Ball Z's vocal songs, including remixes, movie songs, and game image songs. There is going to be over 200 songs on 13 CDs. The CD-Box is going to cost 19950 yen (about $200).

Breakdown?

Post by klokwerk » Tue Jan 29, 2008 6:19 am

I'm hoping someone breaks down what's in this set versus the other CDs available (once a tracklist is out of course). I was just about to place a CDJapan order for a bunch of DBZ related CDs.

Yeah, definitely; once we have a track-list, we'll bust out all the comparisons.

Needless to say, I'll be picking it up... so expect a full review of it afterwards... Also curious as to whether or not it will contain the newish video game themes that aren't even getting a CD release until the month after. Huh.

Unless you say it's complete shit, and is made from the bodies of orphans, I'll be looking to pick this up too. Any word yet if this box will be available from other retailers, you know, who's site I can read? :P

Yeah that's interesting, I think they will be going for the digipac design like in the Funimation season sets but then for 13 discs. Those things are getting populair these days.

Is that kind of packaging popular with CD sets, though? Granted, I haven't exactly purchased any 10+ disc music sets any time recently, so I have no idea. I would expect something more along the line of the 3-disc BGM Collection, where the CDs are in thin jewel cases contained in a larger box (in that case, just a paper "box").

In addition to the above-linked YesAsia, there's also a listing on CDJapan (remember, CDJapan & Neowing are pretty much the same company).

Well I do own two japanese CD sets from 2007 with each 11 CDs that come in one digipac. But both releases were from Lantis and I have no idea if Columbia Pictures is going for the same packaging.

Well shoot, why can't they do this for the BGM? I mean, not to rain on the parade...
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

Why can't they be like the Saint Seiya series, in which all the bgm is in cd's and everything.

I really do hope that this isn't some sort of limited run. Sorta like the "Dragon Box of CD collections." Hopefully it stays avalaible longer than that.

Columbia updated their website with the track listing for the CD Box. Most of the songs are from the Hit Song Collection and Complete Song Collection CDs, and some songs are from the Dragon Ball Z Best Remix 2006 1/2 Special CD. They also have the original karaoke, live, and English versions of some songs.
