It'd be オメデトウゴザイマス in katakana, but you generally write it in hiragana or kanji: おめでとうございます.

Nice to see Toriyama-sama liked the Daimao/Goku fight as much as I did.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Happy birthday, Toriyama-sensei!!

...Hopefully one year older does indeed mean one year wiser. Poor guy is never gonna live that "who's Tao Pai Pai?" line down. :(

^ I thought he couldn't remember who Karin was... whatever, the old man deserves a break.
Happy birthday, good sir! I think I'm late, but at least I got to say it.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Yeah... mainly the reason I can't tell is because I have no way of reading Japanese characters...

Meep... did Toriyama really forget his characters, or like, their names? (Especially since they're mostly puns)

Probably just their names. Toriyama had had an interview with the creator of One Piece, Oda, who mentions that he loved how Toriyama drew Tao Pai Pai's hands, to which Toriyama replies: "Who's Tao Pai Pai?" And then Oda gets all "Are you serious?"

But I'm sure it was just the names he forgot, not the actual characters. I can't imagine him getting so senile that he'd actually forget about a whole handful of characters that he put so much detail and effort into for so long, no matter how detached he tried to keep himself from the story.
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

In Forever's name pun guide, he does say that he can't remember what pun, if any, are behind certain names (like Lunch). In some cases he says that he can't even remember the character, though just with pretty minor people like Pan-poot.

He did forget who Tao Pai Pai was in an interview he had with Ei'ichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, and in several other interviews he's shown that there are a good number of things he doesn't remember, though most are fairly minor things (even Tao Pai Pai isn't really all that important in the grand scheme of the story). So while he can be forgetful, his reputation among fans as practically being an Alzheimer’s patient is just an extreme exaggeration. Which is mostly done tongue in cheek of course, but I still think people don't give him enough credit (not that I haven't made "Toriyama can't remember his own name"-type jokes myself).

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.
