But as I said, the anime can differentiate stuff from the manga, which is why people read the dang manga before they watch the anime.

I don't really see how this is relevant to what anyone has said since your last post.
The point of Dragon Ball is to enjoy it. Never lose sight of that.

I'm just saying, most people just read it's source material better

And we're talking about how to get access to the official release of the manga, which is a meager $2 a month (not a bundle that breaks down to $2 a month, just a flat $2 every month). The only way you don't have that kind of money is if you're unemployed or don't have a credit or debit card. Even when I was working minimum wage and trying to support a family, I still had more than $2 in change at the end of every month or I could have just got one less sandwich when I got fast food and been able to afford it.

Because it isn't...

That's not even a coherent sentence, much less a counter argument or defense to anything you've been told in this thread.

At the end of the day, you came here asking for links to pirated content and when told that we're not allowed to discuss or share that stuff on this site, you tried justifying that you're too poor to afford official releases. When confronted with the fact that a monthly subscription that gives you access to ALL of Shonen Jump's translated library for only $2 a month, you changed your tune to "but the manga is different than the anime," and "but people want to read the source material and see the differences." You're not even purposing coherent counter-statements at this point.

Nothing you've said since your initial post changes that scanlation sites are 1000% ILLEGAL and that it's against the rules of this site to provide anyone with any link or directions in how to access said illegal content. You being poor and not being able to afford, or willing to pay for your entertainment does not make piracy acceptable nor does it change the rules of this site. You're not entitled to enjoying Dragon Ball, or any other form of entertainment for that matter, free of charge. That's not how the wold works.

What about getting the manga on Amazon instead of Viz

On Amazon, you're looking at a little less than $6 per digital volume, totalling $240 for all the volumes, or $15 per 3-in-1 volume for roughly $200 for the entire run, or $20 per VizBig collection for roughly $280 for the whole run, or $10 per physical volume totalling about $420 for the whole run. (Though I think Amazon has sold out on the 3-in-1s, so it's all scalper prices; you'd have to order direct from Viz to get $15 per 3-in-1. Or wait for a restock)

So, unless you're subscribed to Shonen Jump consistently for a little over nine years, and read nothing but Dragon Ball on there, then it's a better deal than any of these to sign up to Shonen Jump for $2 a month.

If you did go the physical route, probably you're best going with the 3-in-1s since they're significantly cheaper, and they're less censored, than the standard volumes. The VizBig collections are arguably better than either (nicer paper, bigger books, better printing in general, most of the colour pages are retained in colour, unlike the other two editions, which are always black and white), but are significantly more expensive, and more censored, than the 3-in-1s. The digital volumes are not a bad option, though are a little more expensive than the physical 3-in-1s.

But given you said you can't really afford much, $2 a month for Shonen Jump is probably your best bet.

It's worth noting that buying on Amazon gets you the Kindle versions, which as far as I'm aware is the only way to own the manga digitally and be able to read them without an internet connection (which IMO is a HUGE advantage). There's also a Kindle app for both mobile and desktop, the latter of which is great for pulling screenshots of specific panels to use as reference for something.

Just throwing it out there, but these numbers are a little off. The Kindle editions are $6.30 a piece, making the whole series $264 total if you're going to collect all 42 volumes digitally. Additionally, the default issues are the only ones available on Kindle as the VizBigs and 3-in-1s are physical only and with the 3-in-1s being roughly $10-14 a piece and the VizBigs being roughly $15. While the VizBigs do seem to be selling out or sold out on Amazon, the 3-in-1s are regularly in stock at their wearhouses with free 2 day shipping through Prime and are generally available used, in good condition, for as cheap as $6-7 (this is how I got vols 3, 5 and 8).

Alternatively, you can pick up the entire DB and DBZ collections for $80 and $135 respectively bringing the total to $215.

But yeah, you could stay subscribed to Shonen Jump for 20 years and not come close to those prices, on top of the fact that you get access to not just Dragon Ball, but Jump's whole library of manga that gets updated as new chapters come out in Japan.

Oh right. I forgot about that. In fairness, though, this is a rather silly option in my opinion, as the 3-in-1s are cheaper and less censored. Still, good to note it. :)

You're good. It's easy to discredit or forget to take into account the change needed to buy something, especially if you're used to buying something one at a time. The brain sees "$6.30," and naturally rounds it down to "$6." That's fine for individual purchases, but when buying in bulk or a complete set of individuals, that $.30 an piece adds up really quick.

Yeah, I agree that the complete sets are a bit silly considering the benefits of the 3-in-1s, I just wanted to bring them up because they're still cheaper than getting the regular editions individually. But you never know, maybe OP is the kind of person who wants to own the individual volumes over the admittedly rather thick 3-in-1s. One could slip an individual issue in their pocket and take it with you on errands, but the 3-in-1s are too big for that.
