I'm starting to wonder if I'm the only one who finds that so minor it's not worth complaining about. True, I'm one of the few here who has an obvious reason for preferring the alteration, but still.Brad Redfield wrote:No we didn't. They altered Mr. Popo's lips in the initial release as well.dragondyle wrote:How come people don't know this? We got an uncesored version of the Dragon Ball manga in America.

Color pages? anyone?
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
The Death Note merchandise Viz has on their website (like their pens and lights and stuff); it's all over FYE's anime section. My local FYE has sections for merchandise sections for Death Note, Tsubasa and Bleach. Oddly enough their Naruto stuff is off to one side on its own.Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:Not to take this too far off topic, but all I see is the occasional advertisment for the novel and an anime DVD...Raki wrote:It's one of their top properties.Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:Since when was VIZ whoring Death Note?
Though if you go into the Borders at Quaker Bridge, Naruto's got a HUGE cardboard cut-out with its manga all over the place.
Of the four, Death Note and Tsubasa are the only ones of those I read (And Tsubasa's gotten kinda squick-worthy lately, so I've lost some of my interest in it.)
On hiatus.

I wasn't complaining, just simply pointing out that the books were edited even in their intial printings.Super Sonic wrote:I'm starting to wonder if I'm the only one who finds that so minor it's not worth complaining about. This big release of new Dragon Ball stuff makes sense, the live action will be out in a year.
It just sucks that it took them so damn long to release this. Many of the fans have literally been waiting years for something like this: An English Daizenshuu/ artbook

Who's to blame, society, parents, kids, FUNi, Viz, Shonen Jump?...
Damn kids, if there were no kids in this world, there would be no censoring of manga, but if there really were no kids, there would be no Dragon Ball! Oh it's a bittersweet taste!
I'm such a perfectionist that I like to have it the way it was meant, purely unaltered.

Nappa: Vegeta, what does the scouter say about Graphic's power level?
Vegeta: It's over NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAND!
Goku: That's what you think, Captain Cocky!

Ah, censorship.
I could understand Mr. Popo's lips (Could be considered racist) yet they were never censored in any version of the dubbed anime...
Though, are three panels of breasts gonna offend me? No. It wan't sexual or anything so why should it? This is Dragon Ball, not a hentai series.
And the Female butt is now a 'sexual organ'?
...
America is now offically being run by idiots.
Manga Viz SHOULDN'T be whoring out:
Naruto
Bleach
Manga Viz SHOULD be whoring out:
One Piece
Shaman King
Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo Bo-Bo-Bo
Slam Dunk
Yu Yu Hakusho
Basically, they are premoting the wrong series. Come on, EVERY other country in the world is further in their One Piece releases than America.
Viz wants America to be overrun by Narutards...
Let's look forward to place filled with stupidy, violence and emos!

Are you guys still guessing this, or is it true? Can anyone clarify?
