He's also the character whom dies the most in the series. I think he paid his dues to get a sexy wife and happy family.Velasa wrote:Krillian's the only non-Saiyan who gets to have a family/happiness, and it kills me.
What do you wish was expounded more on in the series?

I'm not sure about the hair on him though... The first time I saw it I can still remember laughing until I had tears in my eyes.

Again, I'm pretty sure that was the point, that Saiyan culture doesn't vary that much from what we already know. They were friends because they worked together and trusted each other as they scoured planets of life, not because they shared a deep love of musical theatre.Vekurotto wrote:Yeah but Bardock and his crew were supposed to be main characters. Just because they were no different from the other Saiyans dosn't mean that they didn't deserve any sort of story. Again it seems like Bardock and his crew were more than just 4 team members doing jobs for Freeza. They really seemed like they were friends. Which is again why I get disappointed when Toei took the route of making them just Bardock and 3 random Saiyans.
What I have always really wanted to know about is the story of Rou Dai Kaioshin (Old Supreme Kaio) and the villian who trapped him in the Z sword. The villian was said to be nearly as terrible as Buu and that made him sound very interesting.
I've always wanted to know more about King Cold and Cooler, it would be great to know where they were and what they were up to while Freeza was declaring himself the strongest in the universe.
It would also be great to learn more about Tien and Chiatzu.
Again, I've always wondered what Tapion did after he left in his time capsule in DBZ movie 13. Did he really go back in time and try to save his people from Hildegarn like in the fan manga ( http://desirecampbell.com/projects/dbaf ... kstory.jpg )?

Vegeta and Bulma didn't date. That's made obvious. I mean Vegeta going off in space without telling Bulma about it doesn't exactly convey, "I love you my soulmate". Why do people think they dated? Goku and ChiChi never dated either. Vegeta and Bulma didn't go out to restaurants or carnivals. They had sex and had Trunks. End of story on that. I don't think they even ever got married, although it's possible after the Cell Games...although more likely after Kid Buu.
But definitely before the end of the Cell Games, Vegeta was just a guy that lived in Bulma's house (because he had nowhere else to go) and trained all the time to become the most powerful.
Damn. I kind of feel bad about that answer. I sure know how to kill someone's romantic views on the Dragon Ball world. But I think that all the romance is good in fan fiction rather than in the series...mostly because the series wasn't built around romance and had no romance in it at all.

Maybe your right. Then again, maybe not. I like to think there was a little more to it than that.TheGreatness25 wrote:Vegeta and Bulma didn't date. That's made obvious. They got married sometime between the Cell Games and Buu. Bulma's refrenced as his wife during the Buu saga.I don't think they even ever got married, although it's possible after the Cell Games...although more likely after Kid Buu.

It would be interesting to see what drove them to having sex in the first place...
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

I can't get enough out of Gohan and Piccolo, and though we did get a lot, I would have liked to have seen more of them two in the later Boo arc.

That was awesome, 'till the Kaio dude came out, that really ruined it for me. Apart from that, top notch.bkev wrote:DBZ Elswehere fixes that. It's kind of something that could go without saying. A combat unit that has been together for a long time is probably going to develop a sibling-ish atmosphere.Vekurotto wrote:
I would have liked to know specifically how Bardock and his crew were so tight-knit. And things like how they meet up. I mean it's shown in the TV special that even though they were crew mates that they were friends as well but not even a little flashback of their past or anything recorded in Dragonball says this. It's just really disappointing.
I second the Vegeta/Bulma (and Yamcha) thing somewhat. I don't think it would have been this lovey dovey tale, but it was seriously the worst love triangle ever not told. It just... happens. Especially in the manga. Yamcha and Bulma are together. We break. We reconvene. Bulma's holding Vegeta's illegitimate spawn. What. The. Fuck.
I also think a Kami (or rather, son of Katatsu) arc would have been cool. His struggle to find his place, his rise as Kami, Daimao's birth, Mutaito and his student's struggle against Daimao, etc. We get the basics in flashback, but it would make for a cool story all its own.
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

Just curious; anyone else out there who "doesn't"/"didn't" want more backstory? I think that's one of the things that has always worked really well about Dragonball is the right amount of "vague". I love the fact that a character like Piccolo, for example, at the beginning of sagas is usually shown just... meditating. Like, he just sits around for years at a time, waiting for the next go-round. There's something highly amusing that friends as good as Goku, Bulma, and Krillin can take five years off from each other to the extent that Gohan is a new development... and in the same day Bulma and Krillin meet Gohan, Goku up and dies. There's something to all of this that is far more interesting to me than the alternative of seeing the characters hanging out in the "off seasons", so to speak.

During the Buu saga, when Gokuu offers to let the old Kaioshin see naked pictures of Bulma as a bribe, Vegeta is not very happy and yells out, "How dare you use someone else's wife!"TheGreatness25 wrote:Where's that in the series?

Well Vegeta and Bulma did have sexual tension before we found out that they would eventually have Trunks. First there was when Bulma invited Vegeta to live with her at Capsule Corp and told him not to do anything naughty, and then Vegeta started blushing and stuttering. And then the filler scene about the pink shirt. After that, it seemed like Vegeta and Bulma seemed like those type of people who had an attraction based of of not being able to stand each other. You know, where one day, they're all alone and start acting awkard, and then have disgusting, primal sex. Just a thought...

I remember the English version cutting out the word 'wife', actually. Instead of naked pixXx, Gokuu was offering to let Old Kaioshin kiss Bulma, and Vegeta said, "Let him kiss your woman!" Funny, since you'd think the dub would want to emphasize them being married to erase the naughtiness of that whole out-of-wedlock child thing from earlier

With regard to the marriage question, the Dragonball Forever Kanzenban guidebook states, under Bulma's profile:
ヤムチャとは恋人同士だったが破局し、バジータと結婚。
She and Yamcha were lovers, but there was a (hakyoku literally means 'catastrophe'), and she married Vegeta.
Note this doesn't specify WHEN, but since there is no mention of the two having married in Vol. 28 when baby Trunks first appears, it may have been later (on another note, the Budokai Tenkaichi 3 character profiles section has Chichi comment on Buu Saga Vegeta 'It was about this time that Vegeta and Bulma married' or something like that, take it however you will)
EDIT:
Vegeta's bio in the same section reads:
フリーザ戦後、ブルマと結婚。
After the fight with Freeza, he married Bulma.
Which sort of contradicts the (unofficial, or moreso) BT3 info...I guess it's inconclusive in the end
